Providence, RI – A man who was charged for disorderly conducted after he publicly challenged pro-abortion Rep. Patrick Kennedy on abortion will face no charges for doing so. A pro-life legal group worked to ensure perennial local government candidate Christopher Young would not face punishment.

well I certainly hope that Mr. Young has learned his lesson; next time he might not be so fortunate.

Here is a bit of background on the incident:
The confrontation, which occurred Nov. 30 during an open forum at Brown University’s Andrews Hall, came to a head when Brown University police dragged the candidate out of the crowded room, moments after the congressman accepted a DVD on abortion that Young had tossed in his direction and after Young disregarded instructions that he stop speaking. Young, who said that other speakers had been allowed to speak longer, was charged disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Are you implying that he is in error in his message or how he chose to deliver it?
It was how he chose to deliver it.

You never go up to someone in a confrontational way as Mr. Young did. Suppose the person he was confronting had a gun and shot him? You never know how people are going to act when suddenly confronted by a stranger or someone they don’t know very well. It they think their life may be in danger or if they themselves are on the edge, it could have disasterous consequences.

I just think that he could have put himself in a bad situation; the civil charges of course were secondary. I sure hope that someone has counselled him on this.

OK, I see.

Yeah, sometimes there is a line that should not be crossed between getting your message across effectively and opening yourself up to being painted as a religious whack-job.
