I’m just wondering if anyone is familiar with any priests who, coming from the charismatic renewal, have been chosen for the cardinalate?
Actually, the authentic Charismatic movement is quite in line with Catholic teaching. Pope John Paul II himself gave the movement his blessing. It’s right out of the New Testament. You can’t get more Catholic than that.I hope not.
However, some liturgical abuses have crept up from that movement, as is also the case with the Neocatechumenal Way, which John Paul II also supported (the movement, not the abuses). Furthermore, inasmuch as the Charismatic movement is quite legitimate, there have been some followers who have gone beyond the bounds of what they are supposed to do.Actually, the authentic Charismatic movement is quite in line with Catholic teaching. That affirmation was not an infallible statement, and is not to be taken as one. That’s all…take care.Actually, the authentic Charismatic movement is quite in line with Catholic teaching.
