yes Holly I miss these posts. Just to add my 2 cents, I saw an idea for a bumper sticker that says

“THE APOSTLES WERE CATHOLIC, WHY AREN’T YOU?”

Thought that was pretty awesome and wanted to share. I’m trying to get the courage to display it, as my 6 brothers and sisters have all left the church and this could cause anarchy in the family!

Ah I see. I would love to get one of these bumper stickers. Where online do you think I could purchase one?

When asked about why I submit to the Pope, I can use the Acts of the Apostles to show how the early Christians submitted to the instruction of the Apostles. Just because God has given us special graces doe not mean that we know everything. Our submission to God accepts the authority of the Magisterium.

Ah yeah that is pretty cool.

Hi, I’m really new here! I’m Gloria, and I’ve been a Charismatic Catholic since the 70’s and someone directed me to this thread from a very negative Charismatic Thread that I was getting quite irritated with, thank God there is a positive one - HERE!!
I live in MN. we’ve gone to many Charismatic Conferences at St. Paul in the past where Fr. Mike Scanlon spoke, what a weekend that was - our first one and it was so wonderful!!
It’s so nice to come to a place for Charismatic fellowship!
I’m so happy that person directed me here! It was a mistake to get involved at the other thread, it just was so negative about the Movement. Like they don’t listen either!

I’m 68, married 44 years in this August, have two grown girls, and we are retired, but my husband has a retirement job selling appliances at a Furniture and appliance store here in town which he just loves. He retired from selling life insurance for the Catholic Order of Foresters.

I want to meet you people!!!

God bless you all!
Gloria

Gloria, welcome on board!

Glad to hear your good Charismatic experience.
Who can deny the power of the Holy Spirit?

Praise the Lord! God bless!

gloriajean,
I was Baptized in the Spirit on Ascension Thursday 1983 when I lived in WI.
That same year I went through the Life in the Spirit seminar just before my first trip to Minneapolis for the regional conference.
I even received a special prophecy.

DebChris, Intersting you went to Mpls. for your conference too!
Who were the speakers then, do you remember?
One time in Mpls. that we went it was a one day one with Ralph Martin - it was great!!
Thanks for directing me here!! I need this fellowship!
I had no idea there was so much negativety about this.

I did go to the conference with Ralph Martin and the other members of the FIRE team. I think it was my second trip to Minneapolis for the regional conference.
I was at work thinking about how I had not heard anything about the upcoming conference.
I heard the Lord say,“but what if I want you to stay here?”
I replied, “Then I’ll stay.” The next thing I heard was “letter.”
I went home to find the notice about the conference.
It was a last minute thing because God wanted us coming for Him and not for the speakers. I was still new to the Renewal and the names didn’t mean anything to me yet.

We were at the very same conference!!! Wow! I loved the Fire Team! They were wonderful. Let’s see, Ralph Martin, Fr. Mike Scanlon, Sr. Ann, and ? Can’t think of the 4th one.
I even remember Sr. Ann’s talk on expectant faith about her tickets she lost and found - it was very interesting indeed.

Do you remember that?

You jogged my memory. I remember “Come for transformation, not information.”
The 4th one was Scott Hahn if memory serves me right.
“Why does the chauffer wear a cap?”
We used to also have interesting speakers at the Marian House of the Lord, the name of the retreat center where I went for prayer meetings.
We had Abbot Gerald from Pecos and Thea Bowman. I want a funeral like hers:extrahappy:

I recently came across the Fire Team manuel/book that they were going to use. 😃 Only mine is from living in Steubenville.

The first time I went to an actual FIRE rally was in DesMoine, Iowa. I don’t remember if it was before or after my trip off the cliff (I walked away).
I now live in NC. I don’t remember what city held the last FIRE rally I attended. The bishops of Charlotte and Atlanta concelebrated. I think we were in SC.
I was amazed by the number of priests available for confession. It was at the rally that I discovered many from my city are charismatic.

The 4th one, DebChris, wasn’t it Fr. John Bartelucci?
Spelling, I’m sure is wrong. What a speaker that man was/maybe still is! That’s what my husband thinks. It wasn’t Scott Hahn. Two priests, Sr. Ann Shields, and Ralph Martin, I think was the complete Fire Team.

I think you’re right. It’s easy to get confused as to who was where.

DebChris, I think that the negative thread will never stop.
No one will believe you or me, or Deacon Ed B. It’s like speaking to the walls. How long has that thread been going on?
I have NEVER heard such negative remarks about the Renewal in all my years in it!
Thanks for directing me here!!

I need this fellowship because our prayer meetings have closed, I miss the fellowship.

Neither have I. I sent a private message to Deacon Ed B as to whether or not it was time to quit posting.
“For those who have faith, no reason is necessary. For those without faith, none will suffice.” That is the same conclusion I had reached and thought I would follow the advice of Therese de Liseux to “leave them in their error.” They refuse to listen even to the magisterium.
I found the Catholic Charismatic Center on the World Wide Web.
That is where I found the information for my final post (unless God directs otherwise)–that plus the single word I received last night as I prayed about the matter, “Love.”
I will try to get you the link.

I know what its like not to be able to go to prayer meetings.
When I first became a part of the renewal I drove 50 miles one way every week. I was on the way to a retreat when I drove my car off a cliff. It was God’s way of telling me I needed to work in the valley.
I now live in a city where prayer groups are available in 2 different parishes. I can only go to one now (another car accident). I take the bus and a friend will drive me home.
God definitely uses me when I am riding the bus.
