I live in Ohio and I would like to know if there are any Charismatic Catholic Churches in my Diocese or in Ohio at all. Does anybody have an suggesstion on how I would go about finding this out? Thanks!

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal has a monthly Mass in Columbus. It is usually held at a different parish each month.

Call the office of your archdiocese. The archdiocese of every area of the world is supposed to have an official liaison to the Catholic Charismatics within that diocese. This will help you be certain that you have connected to Catholic Charismatics who operate under the authority of their local bishop, and in obedience to the Pope, and are not “on the fringe”. 🙂

If you are anywhere near Fransiscan University in Ohio, you might also contact them, as Steubenville has a good sized Catholic Charismatic group operating in Ann Arbor.

I am in Columbus also, the Charismatic community here is fairly small and tends to be an older crowd. I am not sure what its like in Cincinati or Cleveland. Call the diocean offices of the diocese you live in.

I attended once and it looked like I was probably the youngest one there by several decades. I was under the impression that this was the norm in the Charismatic movement as a whole. I have heard that an overwhelming majority are older.

But I could be wrong. It has happened once or twice before. 😉

This depends pretty heavily on what part of the country / world you are in. Our group is about half over 50 and half under, with a very large group of 20-ish folks.

For the most part, the younger generation are more faithful to tradition and the church’s Magisterium. The older generation seems(not all) to like the emotion based groups and Masses, and the electric guitars, drums, the dancing in Mass(liturgical dancers), and the noise. For example, if one goes to the Latin Tridentine Mass of INDULT around here, one sees young adults mostly, and even young couples with their children. The Masses to are offered mostly by young FSSP priests in their 20’s and 30’s.

Definately different around here. Seems to be about 75% over 50 and nearly 100% over 40. I’ve heard from many different people that the charismatic movement is dying off in most places. But I’m really not involved so I don’t have much 1st hand info.
