🤔 Welllll …

Maybe they think it’s a devious Catholic plot to get LGBTQ(etc., etc.) folks to ride bicycles.

🤨 Instead of … whatever it is that LGBTQ{etc. etc.}'s DO now.

A bicycle on its face sounds like the most pro-LGTBQ toy ever, FWIW.

This is something I’ve thought about a bit. Every group seems to be both the target and agent of this. Here’s a few from “my side of the aisle”,

So the first thing I wondered is if most people would have a limit as far as what groups from whom they would not accept charitable donations. We could probably all agree there are some groups we might disagree with but would certainly still work with for purposes of charity. Then there are the extreme case where I’d dip into my vast reserves of 10-foot poles to distance myself from them. For example, if I were running a charity I’d have no problem working with the KoC even though I disagree in a few ways with them. If something like JMMI wanted to work with my charity I’d introduce them to some less than charitable words.

I think the issue is that dividing line separating the "no"s from the "yes"es varies on the person. People who are more willing to work with disagreeing groups might appear to others as greedy and those who are less willing to work with those groups might appear dogmatic to the detriment of the charity.

And charities aren’t the only times donations come under scrutiny. Politicians can get flak for accepting donations from groups that may not mix entirely with their message.

In the end, while I wish in cases like these people would think more about those served by the charities it’s definitely a shades of gray issue and not black and white.
