Charlie Gard and St Jude--Photo of a Child His Parents Could Not Save

This is what happens when the government runs the health care industry (backed in no small part by Roman Catholic excuse-making) and the NHS should be abolished.
 
My heart hurts for this family. Praying for them to find peace and for the hope that our own country resists the urge to place our lives and health into the hands of the government. Especially the lives and health of the most vulnerable among us.
 
If surrendering your parental rights (to the State) to seek the best medical care for your child, at no cost to anyone, is the way the UK healthcare system works, then I don’t want any part of it.

It’s about what works in reality. The NHS is anti-life, anti-human, anti-Catholic, anti-Christian failure riddled with corruption and low-quality care.
A distinct lack of understanding of the way the healthcare system in the UK actually works become fairly apparent with these sort of comments I’ve noticed.

Neither do I. The people who say they care really do not. Universal healthcare is a grave offense to humanity and should be stated explicitly so in the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.
 
I’m willing to listen, Can you tell us what the deal really was? In your personal opinion, and in light of the fact that you reside there?
 
I’d be interested to know what you think if Simcha Fisher’s blog post/article regarding this. Have you seen it?
 
This idea does not excuse the very real abuses of power that are inherent in the NHS. The lack of understanding is yours and this thread is focussed on the tiny child who could have been saved .

Well said, and I left the UK for those reasons after my own life was put in jeopardy.
 
Some here are missing the point.

Here in Ireland for example, medical cannabis is not medically approved or availabel foe eg severely epilepttc little ones.

Several parents have therefore simply taken their child overseas to get treatment. They have not been stopped.

What happened to wee Charlie was no different.

There was a chance. Just a chance. A window in time when there was some hope.

The NHS has precedent for this kind of autocratic action

The parents had literally to kidnap THEIR CHILD to get this treatment. And he is now well

Seems they do not learn. Charlie was doomed; there was just a chance and really nothing to lose. As with Ashya.

Please pray for his parents. So much love and so much pain in these months. And the death? A judge dictating when a baby must die?

Thank you. I should have posted a link, but I was quite taken with the piece when it came out.
She’s very compassionate, and realistic.
 
The parents wanted to take him home and were denied. the parents wanted to keep him alive until his first birthday and were denied. I pray I never live in a country that has that type of healthcare.
