As many are already aware, Fr. Reid at St. Ann’s in Charlotte is looking to begin offering the Sacrifice of the Mass in Extraordinary Form each Saturday morning at 8.00am beginning May 30th. He will also be holding a “learning session” on the evening of May 21.
I attended Mass last evening to meet Fr. Reid in person and to see if there was anything I, or others could do for him. His number one request was to remember him in our prayers. When I pushed him as to anything else, he did make a suggestion which is the reason for my post.
St. Ann’s is a relatively new parish in Charlotte, and it is currently only a “basement” sanctuary. The building of the the “new” Church above this foundation is in the planning stages, and Father mentioned to me that the design will be made to allow the offering of both the EF and OF of the Mass.
He mentioned that they want to have a communion rail in the new Church and that perhaps that will be a way to help in addition to our prayers. As such, I would like to see if there are others in the Charlotte area, or even just supporters of the ancient form in general who might like to contribute or to help with ideas in raising funds for a communion rail.
If interested, please contact me at smonaco@excite.com.
PS. During his OF Mass last night, you could see in impact of his studing the EF in the way in which he offered the Mass, including a beautiful new fiddleback chasuble and the Sequence of Pentecost chanted in Latin.
Thanks for you attention to my post.
