How long do you think someone should be “clean” of bad sexual habits/addictions before you would think it would be wise to date/engage/married to the person?

Would you be comfortable marrying someone you know is very weak in the chasity area and might screw up on occasion but would tell you about it and never lie to you about it?

Two years is the normal period of time that couple date before marriage. You should be very strict and help him in that matter. If he was “clean” so is a good sign.

they say in AA that a newly sober person shouldn’t begin dating during the first year of sobriety. I would think that would be a bare minimum guideline for someone addicted to sex/porn etc. I’m assuming that by “addiction” you mean an actual addiction rather than a habit.

As for the rest of the nuances and questions, it would be hard to have an opinion without specifics. Bob asks Ann out to a movie vs Bob asks Ann to marry him; Bob has a habit of masturbation vs Bob is addicted to sex with prostitutes.

I think this question should be discussed between the couple and a priest - as well as, perhaps, a trusted, orthodox third party. On this forum you will receive a million different answers - many of them very contradictory. .
