Praise Be the Divine Bridegroom!

I once read an article which mentioned that thinking or fantasying about another person during marital intimacy was an offense against the covenant of marriage and chastity.

I am looking for sources, words/works of the Church, Saints, Doctors of the Church, etc., that speak about this and similar matters, for example, the following:

What is the Teaching of the Church on having a chaste relationship with another while waiting for a decree of moral freedom to marry or for a declaration of nullity??

I would think that a couple which has neither, cannot date or enter into a familiar friendship until the decree and the declaration are present.

Would it be a moral offense against the covenant of marriage and chasity to date or have a familiar friendship between two such individuals (meaning by “familiar friends or friendships”, developing a familiarity with each other that is at least boy/girl friend, if not more like serious dating or fiance status) ??

I would think that besides sins of justice agains the marriages there is also the possibility of sins of scandals

Thanks for any help!

The Blessings of the Bridegroom!!!

Let’s cut to the chase and make this easy.

A person CAN NOT be in any relationship that would seem inappropriate (intimate or otherwise) if that person were married - boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance/fiancee. They are considered married unless the Tribunal states otherwise.

Period.

Real simple.

Praise Be the Divine Lamb of Mercy!

Thanks Liza! I agree! I am hoping to get my hands on documents of the Church, writings of the Saints, Church Doctors, authors of our time, that speak specifically to what makes these sins/defects against the marriage covenant and why. This is what I need, God be please to grant this!!

Anyone any specifics???

May this day of the Divine Mercy be holy for you!

I’d think a look at the rite of marriage and the vows would pretty much cover it.

One makes a covenant with their spouse; one that cannot be broken.

Liza put it pretty well.
