It seems a little haughty and arrogant (and tacky) to go around wearing a t-shirt professing your virtues.
I guess I would feel the same way wearing tee shirts like that, I like a more understated look…

I guess you could tell my vocation by my dishpan hands, birthin’ hips, wedding rings and anywhere I go I look like a momma hen with three little chicks surrounding me.

If I were unmarried I would definitely consider wearing a chastity ring on my finger, but probably not a tee shirt. If my husband goes before me I will continue to wear my wedding rings. Ahh… military wives think about these things. 🙂

I agree the term chastity could confuse the general public, and I also think that wearing a t-shirt declaring your virtue or beliefs is sort of tacky.

Back in college I met a girl who wore a t-shirt that said “Abortion is HOMOCIDE!!!”. While I am adamently pro-life and went to a Christian university, I always thought the way she went about supporting the pro-life cause was a bit tacky.

Preach the gospel always, when necessary use words. Wow the world with your chaste relationship, don’t brag about it on a t-shirt.

Just my :twocents:

I have an “I love catholic girls” tee shirt, and I wear it when I take my three daughters out sometimes, and a bumpersticker that says “U can’t B both catholic and pro-choice”

I think a chasity Tee shirt would confuse most people…they would even think your unmarried…
ll
I have that bumper sticker too, but I want to put it on a magnet before I attach it to my car. I have a blue and pink ribbon with feet that says “God is Pro Life” , a white ribbon with PJII on it and a "Support the Troops yellow ribbon. I have a few more prolife stickers that I want to attach to magnets and change them out often, otherwise my whole rear end would be covered with pro-life stickers. My liscence plate holder says “Air Force Wife”

So hey I got that goin’ for me.

Also My general philosophy.

In college I spent alot of time with my future husband and I guess everyone just assumed that we were sexually active. Some of my fellow catholic girlfriends were with me at his fraternity house when one of the guys made a comment about me and my (now husband) said "I told you, we* don’t have sex*, we’re both virgins and that’s the way it will be until we’re married! My friends were shocked, because I normally didn’t talk much about it, although I was outspoken about chastity in highschool. One of my friends took me aside later and told me how much she respected me.

Jaded27 - Chastity in Marriage doesn’t mean you are celibate, but it does mean that you refuse the use of contraception or immoral sexual practices within the marriage bond.
Oh, I get it now. It’s not really the common use of the word chastity though. I believe that was the 3rd or 4th meaning given. I’d choose a better definition, especially if you’re going to advertise such a thing on your person.

What a sweet story :blessyou:

So not much support for my idea…
Oh well. I am not very outspoken, so I like wearing shirts with a message.
I’m just sick and tired of the other side getting all the air time- in media and elsewhere. I definitely see the point about keeping things private and intimate being part of chastity in that it maintains the sense of sacredness. At the same time, though, people need to realize that chastity is something to be proud of and sought after in and beyond marriage, not just before.
Something like, “Just because we’re married doesn’t mean we’re eachother’s playthings,” isn’t what I was going for at all. I still think it is something that needs to be shared, and I think shirts or bags or bumper stickers or hats all make good conversation pieces.
If the message focused on the not-exclusively-bedroom aspects of chastity such as mutual respect and modesty, I don’t think it is terribly tacky. Certainly no tackier than leaving the house in shorts so short the general public can see the rolls of your behind.

You might find some items you like here.

hh76.com/pro_life_products_details.asp?prod_id=-1&display_grouping_id=99&group_id=69&page=1&site_id=&look=1

I have ordere alot of pro-life items from this site. Check out the Pro life keychains bumper stickers, pins etc. Some are beautiful!
They also have alot of absitnance and chastity items for single men and women, but if i remember correctly I saw some for married couples. Don’t feel bad, I am just not much of a tee shirt wearer. I like Itallian charm bracelets though. You could easily have a link made with whatever you wanted it to say, and there are easy ways to make your own tee shirts!

peace!

Someone at the water cooler had this idea. I think this could work on the back of bride and groom shirts:

What about a focus on fidelity and staying together through thick and thin?

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
(1 Cor 13:7)

'Til death do us part.

If you’re really dying to make a t-shirt… 🙂

Then that one sounds okay. It doesn’t necessarily deal with anything other then love and isn’t delving into all things too intimate to advertise.

What is a chastity ring? If you wore it who would know what it stood for? We are all called to chastity according to our station in life.

I wear one. Depending on the situation (who I am talking to) if I’m complimented on it I will tell the person what it stands for. It is just a nice ring that my folks gave me when I was a teen, to represent my purity until marriage.

my first reaction to this and a similar post is negative. I for one would not advertise anything about my private relationship with my husband or bring any aspect of it forward for comment or speculation. Number two, I have a dislike for t-shirts, bumper stickers, bracelets and the like that give social or political commentary of the wearer.
