Chastity is the solution to many problems

and im sorry but this thread is utterly ridiculous. there are far worse things in the world than sex. theres drugs and alcohol, war, murder, aggression, greed and many more. pick anyone of these things to eliminate from society and the world would be a better place. however the same cant be said about sex. if you just eliminate sex then thered still be drugs, war, violence, except robbers, drug dealers, and murderers would just be virgins…
stop this irrational fear of sex and the human body.
and by the way taking drugs to artificially numb your sexual urges is unnatural and disturbing.
this thread just shows how repressed some people are.

Yes, if everyone was chaste a lot of problems would be solved. Is that even close to being realistic? Of course not.

i agree, chasity would solve some problems in society, since a lot of crime and greed is motivated by a desire for sex, but i think we should solve other more pressing issues first. it would be far healthier if people would have sex instead of doing drugs.
and furthermore if people would be more accepting of sex that would instantly put pornograhers and prostitutes out of business since people would give themselves freely and openly. its funny how prudishness leads to even more sexual degeneracy.

im talking about how repressed prudish people freak out over any sex that is not within marriage and in the missionary position.
the only thing these people ever seem to complain about is the sex in TV and how “too many people are having it too often”. while there is definitely a certain truth to that, they definitely go overboard with chastity.
its sad really, they even react with DISGUST to the human body.
this is my impression of many (fellow) catholics i know: “ZOMG that skirt is too high! what has the world come to?? people have discovered sex!”
but these same people’s reaction to violence: “oh its just boys being boys”
my point is i think people have their priorities out of order. something is seriously wrong with someone who thinks a movie ike saw is not sinful whereas a movie depicting jessica alba in a bathing suit is evil.
you think im “too liberal”? well, i dont think taking paxil to castrate oneself is a good thing. if that makes me “liberal minded” then so be it.

You seem to confuse chastity with abstinence. Chastity does mean abstinence when one is single but monogamy when one is married.

About people being more accepting of sex and putting out pornographers and prostitutes out of business, sorry that hasn’t happened yet. Western culture is saturated with sex, yet the pornographers and prostitutes are still here.

You do realize you are in a Catholic forum right where most of its members are in obedience to the Church’s teaching on chastity?

The above statement could be taken to mean that those who take chastity seriously are sexual degenerates.

I do not know for sure, but I think that the number of Americans with STDs is about 50,000,000 people.

If that number is close to accurate, in my opinion things are out of control.

Again, I am not sure, but I heard the 50,000 women are sold in to sexual slavery each year in America.

If that number is close to accurate, where is are our leaders, Church, Religions of all kinds and the governments of all kinds?

Chastity is the answer–sexual self control, and once it is a virtue-- it is with ease and beauty.

They claim that 1 % of abortions are due to rape.

If we get the rapists off the streets, we would not need abortion!

Sexual self control is really possible, and all major religions teach that.

If our society believed sexual relations were valuable, then when a man steals sex through rape, we would punish the men. It seems we do not believe that sexual relations are of value, therefore we do not punish rapist when they steal sex.

STOP the rape and we no longer “need” abortion.
