Of course rape is an act of violence, but it is still also a sin against chastity. It it impossible to rape someone without acting unchastely. So the point being that if you were to be a truly chaste person and truly act chastely you would not ever rape anyone.

We just understand don’t understand this horrific crime in the same fashion.

I certainly do not disagree with you that it is an act of violence, I just also recognize that it is an act of sexual violence.

1. If someone is committing rape then the lack of commitment to chastity is the very least of our concerns. Furthermore a focus on chastity will not solve rape. Once that’s on the table we are so past the point of saying “don’t have premarital sex”.
2. Even I don’t buy the argument that priests molest because they can’t marry. What healthy adult male says “Gee, I’m horny and don’t have a woman, so this little boy will have to suffice”?

I think you might be misunderstanding what I am saying. I am not claiming that all that is necessary to stop someone from comitting rape is to tell them to not have premarital sex, or even to read up on the Church’s understanding of sexuality. Obviously people who are going to commit rape are much more messed up than that and need much more than that in order to change their approach to sexuality. What I am trying to say is that since chastity is about correctly ordering ones whole perception and approach towards sexuality and since if ones whole perception and approach to sexuality is ordered correctly they are not going to rape someone rape will not happen if a person is truly chaste. Of course people are sometimes super messed up and need all kinds of medical and psychological help etc to help them correctly order their approach to sexuality, but the point is that it doesn’t matter what the specific means are, what ultimately prevents rape etc is having ones approacch to sexuality correctly ordered (ie being chaste).

and so forth

It is also the solution to problems that follow from the above mentioned.

Abortion and prostitution do not solve problems but create more problems. They are solution problems.
