Che Guevara. Hero or Villain?

Today marks the 45th anniversary of Che Guevara’s death. I see many posters and bumper stickers of his iconic image. To many, he’s a revolutionary hero. To others, he’s a Communist mass murder. Is his true legacy one of hero or villain?

Mass murderer. What is worse is he claimed he did it for the “greater good”
 
I never quite got the fascination with this guy… :o

But yes, from all accounts, he was a violent, militant Communist revolutionary who played an active part in inventing his own legend. I’ll go with “Villain”. 😃
 
I find it ironic that Che’s image on T-shirts, posters and in comic books, rather ironic in that it is being exploited for profit by American capitalists!
Che’s popularity as a symbol of rebellion is largely restricted to ill educated and ill informed white American teenagers…the very ones who spend their lavish allowances on ghetto hip hop and gangsta rap.
Funny thing is, that Che succeeded only in Cuba, where teenagers today are not allowed to have any of the freedoms American teenagers have.
The only thing that American and Cuban teenagers have in common is their gross ignorance of the crimes against humanity committed by Che.

Agreed.

But Che Guevara is no more a “totalitarian mass murderer” than “the rebels” that Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama wish to support in Syria.

You see, back then, Castro and Che Guevara would have been “the rebels” and Fulgencio Batista would have been the evil, brutal dictator - in other words, Assad.

It is strange how we never learn the lessons of history.

Communist “Chic” was a lot like Marijuana Chic I think.

The cynic in me thinks that guys who wear these shirts are advertising - for a party invite or a cute liberal girlfriend. Ask these people about Che and you won’t usually get much.

Basically their advertising is: “I’m COOL man. I’m a radical. Where’s the party?”

The top figure is the Zig Zag rolling papers logo guy. Usually indicating “I smoke … got some?” or some such thing. It’s flying a flag and a conversation starter.

I have worn my LA Angels logo-ed stuff and sometimes like minded people chat you up.
One day maybe “THE girl!” Lol.
