I receiving daily devotionals every day. When I read this one this morning I thought of you and thought it might help you in your situation.

Forgive and Move On

Today’s Scripture
“But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (Mark 11:26)

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria

No one promised that life would always be fair. People are imperfect; we make mistakes and bad decisions. You may have been hurt by others in the past, but the important part is how you choose to deal with that hurt. Failing to let go of the past and holding on to grudges and anger can only cause harm in your life. If you want to keep your joy and remove what could become some huge roadblocks in your path, decide to forgive others, whether or not they ask for forgiveness. God says His daily forgiveness, in the sense of His daily favor and blessings, is based on your willingness to forgive others. When you forgive, you will find new strength and begin to experience God’s breath-taking blessings!

A Prayer for Today
God, thank You for Your forgiveness. I know that I don’t deserve it, but I praise You for faithfully forgiving me. Help me to clear any roadblocks in my path by forgiving others, even as You forgive me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Did you know that God wants to make a trade with you? He has a standing offer every minute of every day and it’s amazing how few of us actually take Him up on His offer. He wants you to give Him all your cares, your problems, and your failures. In return He will give you His peace and joy. On top of that, He promises to protect and take care of you.

God really does want to take care of us, but in order to let Him, we’ve got to stop trying to take care of ourselves and worrying about every little thing we can’t control. Many people would like for God to take care of them, but they insist on worrying or trying to figure out an answer on their own, instead of waiting for God’s direction. They wallow around in puddles of their own worry, wondering why God doesn’t give them peace. God will give us peace, but we must first give Him our worries.

We give God our worries by trusting that He can and will take care of us. By trusting God, we are able to rest in Him, knowing that He has the situation well under control. Worry, on the other hand, is the opposite of trust. Worry steals our peace, wears us out physically and can even make us sick. If we are worrying, we are not fully trusting God, and we’ll never be able to experience His peace.

What a great trade! We give God our worry—He gives us His peace. We give Him all our cares and concerns, and He gives us His protection, stability, and joy. That is the privilege of being cared for by Him.

Because He cares for us, He wants us to live in peace and not all tied up in knots of worry. He has ways of guiding us toward peace, if we are alert enough to sense His direction.

Imagine that you are driving down a road. Along the way, there are roadside signs that provide direction or give warning. If you pay attention to the signs and follow the words, you will be able to drive on that road and safely reach your destination.

In the same way, on the road of life there are spiritual signs along the way. In order to stay under God’s protection, you must obey these signs that tell you to trust Him and not to worry. Don’t be afraid, have courage. If you’ll pay attention to these signs, you’ll find that it’s easy to stay on course. You will experience the protection, peace and joy that only God can provide.

However, if you fail to heed the signs, you may notice that the road seems a little bumpier than usual and you’re not as confident in your ability as you once were. You may become anxious about the unknown things waiting around the corner, and you may even veer off the road.

Anxiety affects us like a double portion of worry. It’s an uneasy feeling that lingers like a haze, even after we think we have dealt with it. Once we disregard the signs and go our own way, we are moving in the direction of fear–especially fear of tomorrow and fear of the unknown. The result is anxiety.

Anxiety is like putting on a heavy coat on a hot summer day. It weighs you down. It’s difficult to move, and it’s stifling to wear. According to Webster’s Dictionary, anxiety is “a state of being uneasy, apprehensive, or worried…” Sometimes this uneasiness is really vague—something we just can’t put our finger on. All we know is that we are uneasy.

You and I don’t need to be anxious about tomorrow when we have all we can handle today. Even if we manage to solve all our problems today, we will just have more to deal with tomorrow…and even more the next day.

Why waste time worrying when it is not going to solve anything? Why be anxious about yesterday, which is gone, or tomorrow, which hasn’t arrived yet? Trade your worries in today for God’s peace. Remember, everything’s going to be all right!

Thanks!! Keep them coming…this really made me feel better.

Your still my prayers and part of my nightly rosary intentions. I hope you had a better day today my dear, I can’t imagine.

Hi there, I’m new here but I wanted to chime in. BTDT and lived to tell about it with marriage still intact. 🙂 We’ve gotten past 5 years and there are days when it still stings like it was the first day, but most days I no longer think about it. That’s progress. I was obsessive about this, even though he did cut it off immediately. I still was obsessive. The biggest thing for me was “no contact” and I did make him forfeit all privacy and he willingly did that for me to prove that he was sincere. our therapist also encouraged this. Only when I knew he wasn’t hiding anything was I able to start moving on. And to this day he no longer keeps secrets from me - he’ll let me look at his email if I ask. He’s conducting himself with honor to our marriage now, so he has nothing to be ashamed about. And for my part, I no longer need to see every piece of email that comes in.

Anyway, the one thing that i used to mutter to myself as I would sit in bed and sob every night was that “this is where God wants me to be”. For whatever reason, I still have no clue, but this is where I was supposed to be at that period of my life. It gave me so much comfort. I still say that to myself when things aren’t going well.

Hugs.

this is a beautiful quote and i will remember this forever…
thank you… 🙂

Here is today’s Daily Thought

Verse: 1 Peter 5:7 (Living Bible)

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you.
  • Giving God your worries and cares is a choice.
  • Giving Him your worries and cares can be a lifestyle.
  • You can cast all your care upon Him.
  • He cares for you.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for the way in which You care for me. I give You those issues of concern to me and I ask You to perform a miracle! Amen.

Worry, or Worship?

Today’s Scripture
“We have no power against this large army that is attacking us. We don’t know what to do, so we look to you for help.” (2 Chronicles 20:12)

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria

The enemy would love to get you worrying instead of worshiping God. When the devil brings you thoughts of worry, anxiety and fear, let them be a reminder for you to thank God that His answer is on the way. Say, “Devil, thank you for reminding me,” and then say, “Father, I thank You that You are at work on my behalf.” That’s what King Jehoshaphat did. The people of Judah were surrounded by three major armies. It didn’t look like they had a chance. This godly king was probably bombarded with thoughts of fear and anxiety. But he gathered the people together, lifted his eyes toward heaven, and prayed the simple prayer in today’s verse. Jehoshaphat’s prayer was answered. God told the people to march right in to the enemy’s camp, singing and shouting praises on their way. Notice, they weren’t worrying—they were worshiping—and God delivered them. Do you need a victory in your life? Then learn to worship instead of worry!

A Prayer for Today
God, You are truly the great God who is the Provider of everything we need, and much more. I want to be a worshiper instead of a worrier, so today I claim Your promise of deliverance from thoughts of fear or anxiety. Thank You for giving me the victory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I have talked with a therapist…it was hard to hear all of the things that he had to say. I understood what he was saying but can I really do this…I told him everything about the drugs about him still needing to talk to her to try to get completly rid of her. He told me that this is common . I told him that I needed him to have no contact with her and he agreed but also said that it takes several times of them meeting before it is completly over. He said you cannot fix this on your own and on a schedule. This is me I plan everything! He said it sound like you have done and are doing everything that needs to be done on your side. He said now let him fix his side. You can’t make him he needs to do it and if you keep hounding him that it needs to be done NOW it usually pushes them away. He said it sounds like he is making an effort to try to work things out and thats what you want to see. He asked me if I could see things changing and I said yes I see a huge change but he still needs to talk to her. He said please have patience. This takes time he said as long as you continue to see things changing he’s heading in the right direction. You’ll see, he will figure out that he doesn’t want anything to do with her but YOU can’t figure it out for him he needs to do that. I asked him so what am I suppose to do while he tries to figure things out…just sit here and let him talk to her…this is hard Lord please give me strength…He told me no you need to start dealing with these emotions you are having and try to resolve issues in yourself. Try to continue your everyday life with your daughter. I ask him if I should leave him while we go thru this. He said sometimes its best but he said if he is still coming home and trying to improve things let him. Let him show you how he is going to fix things. He said you’ll know… He told me to stop driving around like a crazy women looking for him or for her. He said you are giving their realtionship to much attention. He said STOP!!! You are only hurting youself. I asked so how much time do I give him. He said its different for everyone. He said some still deal with their lover 6 months after. I SAID 6 MONTHS! I can’t do this for six months. He said that doesn’t mean that he’s with her for six months that just means he is still dealing with feelings but if you continue to see a postivie change your way he will get over her. Oh friends this is so hard. I am a planner I plan everything and I expect things to go in a timely manner. Help me Lord! I know I wanted this to be over by now. In my mind we should be in a recovery stage not in a withdrawl stage. The therapist said once he realizes that he doesn’t need her anymore…that is when he should never have contact with her ever again. He said its an addiction and it takes time…He also said that if I did not continue to see a change that then I would need to decide if I wanted to continue this marriage but he said that is not a decision you want to make in just a two month period of time. He said give him the opportunity to fix and make things better. Please continue to pray for us, pray for me and strength and patience to get thru this. Lord I hand it all over to you I don’t want this anymore. Take my pain, anxiety, fear and obsession on this. Please keep holding my hand Lord…You guide me. May it be your will not mine. Help me to understand that I cannot fix this alone and that I need patience. PLEASE PRAY FOR US!!!

pray the rosary my dear… Mother Mary will protect you and him…

I will pray for you tonight and it’s going to be quite soon since it looks like a nightly trip to the church garden is coming because of my own issues with an ex-girlfriend.

I don’t know how much experience you’ve had with getting over people (I’m assuming that women have more experience with seeing people get over them than men do, while men have more experience in getting over someone, but I may be wrong and I’m aware I’m generalising), but I can tell you that the relationship being over doesn’t mean feelings being over or sorted. It’s possible your husband realises it’s done for and over with, but still doesn’t want to do it in the style of, “bye bye, I’m coming back to my wife,” that some irresponsible men use to ditch girls they have extramarital affairs with. I’m not sure if you can see some good sides of his not wanting to hurt her (if that’s true), but I’m sure you wouldn’t like him to be cruel or rude, as much as you would like him to cut all contact and never feel anything special for that woman or express anything. I think if I were cheated on by hypothetical wife, I would still hate her to trash a guy. Also, if he needs contact with her for his own healing, it may feel like allowing him to have “something” with that woman, but I think he’s better healed than longing. You surely don’t want him ever missing her. The therapist knows what he’s talking about, but I think you shouldn’t take his words in absolute terms if you aren’t comfortable with them and maybe you should ask another therapist what he thinks of it, if that would make you feel better. Can you approach a priest for some spiritual direction as to what to do on the side of prayer, maybe praying together with your husband, convincing him to pray hard to be freed of the affliction of that attraction? I don’t feel comfortable giving advice in that area, but a priest is an expert in that and called to do so. 🙂

These are the things he is saying…He doesn’t want to hurt or be cruel to her. He also says that he needs to deal with feelings with her so he can completely be rid of her. And that is the reason for him having to see her. He says that he doesn’t want her that way anymore and that he chooses me and our marriage. This is hard for me…I have talked to a priest and he said the same thing that it would take a while for this to be resolved. That I was not to expect it to go away overnight. He said for me to pray and have faith and trust in the Lord. He said to put it all in the Lords hand and let his will be done. This is hard too… Me and my husband do pray and I feel him true but it absolutly kills me that he has to deal with emotional feelings he has with another women. A women he says he loves…ouch! I have tried everything to try to reconcile…expect for taking the advice of the therapist and the priest. So my new thing is to not give their relationship anymore attention and try to get myself back on track and let him fix the mess without me hunting him down all the time. Please continue to pray for me. It is extremly hard to not drive around like an idiot looking for my husband…Pray that I may let this all go to the Lord and not feel that I need to fix it.

I’d give hime six minutes then tell him to take a hike. I feel bad for you. I suppose the best I can do is pray.

Love31;1968585]These are the things he is saying…He doesn’t want to hurt or be cruel to her.
I’m sorry, but you are a far better woman than I because if my husband said this to me, I think I’d throw something at him!
He doesn’t want to hurt her??? All the while he’s hurting YOU??? Who is more important here?
YOU are his wife!!!
He also says that he needs to deal with feelings with her so he can completely be rid of her. And that is the reason for him having to see her. He says that he doesn’t want her that way anymore and that he chooses me and our marriage.
I’m sorry, but this is a cop out to me. He needst to put YOU and YOUR feelings first in this if he wants to save your marriage. I cannot believe how he can bend over backwards to save HER feelings, all the while he’s ripping your heart in two???
This is hard for me…
No doubt it is hard for you, VERY VERY HARD. You are a saint for dealing with it the way you are. I know I couldn’t do what you’re doing.

YOU have tried to reconcile? Seems to me that you are the one putting in all the hard work when HE should be. He seems to be getting off very easily in all this. He says he wants his marriage, yet still sees this woman. He wants to fix things but gives you so many reasons to not trust him.
I agree you need to pray, but really, give yourself a break. You are behaving amazingly in the face of such a terrible and heartbreaking situation.
Like I said, you are a far more wiser, charitable and understanding wife than I would ever be in this situation. He is a very fortunate man to have such a wife as you. He doesn’t seem to realise it, or may I say, deserve it.
God bless you.

Thanks Jules11…I feel and think this everyday…and everyday it gets harder and harder to convience myself that I still want this marriage. I went to adoration yesterday and just cried…and prayed…I have been fasting for answers and I feel that the Lord wants me to continue to fast…I feel he will reveal my path and give me all the answers once I have put all my trust in my God. My God did make it very clear that I needed someone who would help me grow spiritualy and help me get closer to God and help each other do God’s will. The Lord knows me and knows that this situation is dragging me down. I will only give it a little while more. I just have to know that I did everything I could to save my marriage…I think I have. Now he has to prove to me that he is willing to do anything to save it. I almost feel that he won’t change until I leave. I don’t think he believes that I will…Keep praying for us!

Please…I need prayers. I just want to leave. I feel like I can’t take anymore. The anxiety and stress is exhausting. The wondering is horrifying. Is this really where I’m suppose to be. Is this really what I need to be going thru. Do I really need to put up with all of this. Lord I need guidience…I love my husband but will he ever let her go. Can I really live with my husband knowing that he actually loved and made love to another women…I’m in so much pain…I really want to leave…

I have no idea what you are going through but you will know when you have had enough… I went through a situation with my first husband with drinking/drug issues. When I had enough, I knew it and it was all water under the bridge for me. Did I sometimes wonder if I had made the right choice by filing for divorce…yes of coure, but he always did something else soon after to make me realize I did the right thing by divorcing him. Now a days he doesn’t even contact our 15 year old dd and I’ve had to threaten him with getting a lawyer to get $250 in child support in more than 3 years. He owes me over $6,000 right now, and only has to pay $150 a month. It might not be apparent now, but you will know when its time to move on if ever… Although my marraige to my second husband is much better, its still not a “bed of roses” either. We have different problems. Marriage is difficult but we learn as we go.

I will keep you in my prayers…

The things that the therapist said sound, well, strange to me. Is this a Catholic therapist? Maybe if you find a good Catholic therapist to talk to?

The sad thing is that I have also talked to a priest and I got the same advice. All I can do is pray that the Lord will guide me. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to go thru and it just doesn’t seem to be getting easier.

Love31,
It seems to me your therapist and your priest think that the poor man needs time and you need to have patience for him to come to his senses. I know that marriage can be a real cross. I know that it takes suffering and sacrifice, but standing by while he gets his cake and eats it too sounds a little wrong to me. He needs to GROW up and be a husband. HE needs to make some tough decisions, to cut this woman out of his life or he loses you!
I don’t believe that its appropriate that he strings you along while he is tip toeing around HER feelings!
I think if it were me, I would be saying, "you are the one who did this. You are the one who did the wrong thing, either you want me and you will do the right thing and cut her out of your life completely or I’m gone’
Either way, he will make his choices. If you leave and he goes to her, then he didn’t really want to break it off with her.
If you stay and he cuts all ties with her and tries to be the husband he promised to be, then good.
But I’m sorry, I cannot agree with the priest or the therapist. He needs to grow up and be a man. Be a husband and put YOU’RE feelings before this other womans. If he could see how he’s ripping your heart out and still continues his behaviour, I think I would walk away and never look back.
He doesn’t deserve all this time and attention. He doesn’t deserve YOU.
Sorry, this is only my opinion. It is what I would do and I am not suggesting that you have to take my advice. I will pray for you. I am so sad that people can cause such turmoil and destruction while they seem to just go on doing whatever they want.
God bless you.
