Usually, students caught cheating get an automatic F in the course. There may be additional consequences, but that is the bare minimum.

Here, in Brazil, teachers don’t even care if the person cheats. I feel kinda bad about that

If you plagiarized an important paper, such as a doctoral dissertation, you can have your credentials removed, even decades later.

In-class tests: (usual) first cheating = 0 grade; second cheating = student court system where it is noted on the student’s record
Online tests: Profs can make tests more difficult to cheat with Lockdown Browser software plus software tricks like shuffling questions or shuffling multiple choice answers within a question (Example: The right answer for #3 is “c” for one student while another student’s test with same question #3 has correct answer “a”). Cheating not so big a deal.
Papers and lab reports: Turnitin plagiarism detection software definitely catches cheaters.

Obviously that teacher didn’t come down in the last shower and it’d be no use trying to pull the wool over his/her eyes.

In my first semester of organic chemistry, someone stole the final exam. So, the instructor passed out the stolen test and we worked feverishly on all those problems. Then, he interrupted the test, collected them, and then passed out the real test, this time, a standardized test. Somebody’s joke backfired on the whole class – a standardized test, yuck.
I think the chemistry classes used to be graded on a curve, anyway.

On old Olypus towering tops, a Finn and German View a hops
that’s 12, V is for Vagus nerve. That’s all I remember. olfactory oculomotor trigeminal auditory, whatever.
