I just want to know if anyone has gone through what I am going through, and if so, what can I do. I was with my boyfriend for 2 years and 4 moths. In March I found out I was pregnant, and in April I found out he had been cheating on me for 7 months already. To me it seems he did not care about or our baby. Its been 2 months since we broke up, and he is officially with his new girlfriend. We have no communication, he does not ask how the baby is progressing, has not brought any items for the baby at all. When we broke up, he agrees to work on things, but he lied. He was still with his new girlfriend while promising me we would work things out and get back together. My baby is due soon, and as I see it, he is not going to come back. He does not care that he hurt me nor that he left a child without a father. It hurts me deeply because I really did love him, and even now after all he has put me through, I still have feelings for him. He promised to always be there, but he didnt come through for me or our child. I used to pray that he come back to me and that we would be a family. But now I just pray to get over him and be happy again. I do not want this sadness to follow me after my child is born. I pray to God everynight to help me cope with the pain, to let me heal, to give me the strength to carry on for my son as I am the only parent he will have. Some days I am okay, other days I feel like im falling into a dark hole. I keep try to keep faith, but at times it seems hopeless. I never thought I would be a single mother, much less the way everything happened. There are days I just cry all day and no matter how much I pray I cannot find comfort. If anyone has any advice please let me know what I can do. I ask that whoever reads this post keep me and my child in their prayers so that we can both move forward and live a happy life. All I want is to be happy again, with my son, and thats all. I know God will help me, but right now, I feel as if He has forgotten me, and it hurts.

Welcome to CAF, and I am sorry that you found us under such painful circumstances.

I suggest that you go to confession straightaway. You were committing a mortal sin by living with and having sexual intercourse with your boyfriend and that is something that you need to confess and be absolved for before anything else can happen. You can’t take communion in your current state. Next I urge you to go to Mass as often as possible.

The promises your boyfriend made were not real. The promises of Jesus through His Church are real. Base your life upon THOSE promises, and do not pretend that you are married when you are not.

I will put you in my prayers.

p.s. I am glad that you kept your baby. Many women in your situations are pressured to abort their baby.

Life can be difficult, to be sure. Your profile indicates you are Catholic. I would recommend contacting a priest and making an appointment to talk through some of these things with him. He will be in a much better position to offer you good pastoral guidance than us anonymous internet people.

I will certainly pray for you. Even in our darkest times, God is there. Turn to Him. Put your trust in Him and His plan for you and your baby. Keep praying. God is listening. Don’t forget to spend some time listening to Him, too.

I’m very happy you’re keeping the baby, because also of what the previous poster said, a lot of people will abort it because of outside pressure.

It may sound odd that you are the one who has to confess, but I can promise you, it will lighten up your spirit and give you peace about the situation and He will give you comfort how to bring up the child and you feeling happy with it.

God bless

I can tell you that the very thing which is scaring the hell out of you right now will soon be your reason for living. be of good cheer and be prepared for a lifetime of joy, with your golden boy. There will be trials. Many, many trials. And before you know it, your son could do what my daughter has done, which is grow up and move to the opposite side of the planet earth from me. She is also about to get married.
But your child becomes your life, and you will never lose that, even if he does move to India. 😉

Well at least you found out what he is really like as hard as it might be to accept. I’d get a lawyer and see about child support. He has a responsibility to the child he helped bring into the world regardless of what he thinks. Don’t be lead on by anymore promises he may make his actions tell the story. If it gives you any comfort remind yourself that your well rid of someone who treats people like that. He may well do the same to his current girlfriend.

Aside from all the excellent spiritual advice given, take this practical advice. Even if you feel you don’t need financial help, often it’s a way of keeping your son’s father somewhat involved in his life. If for no other reason then medical information that your son may need in the future.
As someone before said, you’re going to find that your son will be a beautiful part of your life, best of luck to you.
