Do you chew the Host when you receive Him at Mass? I know the literal translation is “chew” but from what I can recall, I have never done this. I was informed as a child that it was Jesus, and have never felt right about eating Him as I would all other foods. Now this has never been a problem for me, but with the man stealing the Eucharist recently- I read that he did not chew and so that is what clued in the people around him that he was stealing the Host. He put Our Lord into his mouth, and later took Him out to show a buddy, etc. I certainly don’t wish to be accused of stealing the Host, but at the same time, I can’t bring myself to chew the Host and assume things like having left over pieces in my teeth. Anyone ever had any trouble with this?
