Chewing

Hi Paris - just an fyi. I think I remember Fr. Serpa saying the correct terminology is ‘receive the Eucharist’, not ‘take the Eucharist’. (just like we should say ‘receive communion’, not ‘take communion’.).

Our priest has told us to chew, similar to what one of the posts says above. Jesus’ command was to ‘take and eat’. But, I try to do a little of both because I have the same problem you do. I’ll chew (lightly) a couple times, then let it dissolve. Usually works well.
 
I perennially have a dry mouth and must chew. I have tried to let the Eucharist disolve but once it got stuck in the back of my mouth almost in my throat…with nearly disasterous results, I nearly choked and worse. I would not have wanted to be that priest. :eek:
