The story of Father Tolton is a sad commentary on the racist attitude of seminaries in the United States, an additude that existed from the 1860’s until Vatican II. (Why is there always something wrong with our seminaries???) Fortunately, there were people like Fr. McGirr and Archbishop Feehan around back then.
I hope Bishop Perry can make a strong case for Father Tolton. If he does, Cardinal George will do all he can to push it forward.
