A committee of the Chicago City Council passed an amendment to the Disorderly Conduct section of the City Code that would add restrictions to efforts of pro-life sidewalk counselors to talk to women entering abortion clinics:

The ordinance could come to a vote before the full City Council the week of 10/05/2009 (the next scheduled session of the City Council is Wedensday 10/07/2009).

Please pray that this amendment fails.

If anyone lives in Chicago, please contact your alderman and ask him/her to vote ‘No’ on this matter. List of aldermen and how to reach them:

I would think the Chicago police would be put to better use rounding up out of control teenage thugs carrying railroad ties before someone else gets murdered. Guess it is more important to prevent life than to protect it.

Notice we never get a quote or a name with any of the alleged misbehavior (people yelling others are going to hell, etc.)? You can be sure if the press knew of a single, verifiable instance they would be shouting it and vilifying that individual.

Buffer zones are common in most states, and are pretty meaningless in some since the property boundaries extend further away from clinic doors than do footage limits. I really don’t see how this is going to effect the debate one way or the other.
