The Church is very clear, we are to work against unjust discrimination:

They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided.

The equality of men rests essentially on their dignity as persons and the rights that flow from it:

Every form of social or cultural discrimination in fundamental personal rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion must be curbed and eradicated as incompatible with God’s design.

Just a couple of quotes from the CCC, there are many more.

We are to avoid the SPLC who works to do exactly what we are commanded to do as Christians???

Well, not “EXACTLY” what we are commanded to do as Christians. The Church promotes family as a central pillar of society.

The SPLC condemns organizations that promote the family as hate groups.

Franklin Graham

In case you missed it, the “personal rights” on the grounds of sex when they contradict explicitly the “personal rights” on the grounds of religious belief, become problematic for the SPLC.

Some individuals begin to push their own personal rights to the degree that they – and the SPLC – believe that they have a right to “curb and eradicate” the religious beliefs of others. This prioritizing of “fundamental personal rights” over and above fundamental moral teachings of Christianity on the importance of the family are the flashpoint for what the SPLC has decided, on its own, to validate discrimination and hate against groups that stand up and support family values.

This support of family values is “exactly what we are commanded to do as Christians.”

I didn’t realize we couldn’t do that WITHOUT supporting the SPLC. What did people do to be good Catholics before the SPLC existed?

They are a trash organization, whose nobler pusuits are overshadowed by their more heinous ones. I work against unjust disccrimnation in a way that doesn’t cause me to compropmise my other Catholic principles.

Cool. So they labeled one group correctly.

Now do a brief google search and see how many other groups/people have been labeled as “hateful” because they don’t kowtow to left wing politics. Dr. Ben Carson, for starters.

They’re a partisan, left wing hack group.

Not to mention, mainstream conservative groups that oppose illegal immigration, that don’t support the SPLC’s open borders agenda.

SPLC’s defination of “Christian Identity” as a hate group shows that I would NEVER be part of those groups.

Are you seriously suggesting that the Ruth Institute is a “hate group” purely because it identifies as Christian?

http://www.ruthinstitute.org/about

Seems a rather broad brush used by the SPLC to target “Christian Identity” groups as hateful or Christian “in name only,” no?

Since you are defending the SPLC over the Ruth Institute, perhaps you could delineate what it is about Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse and her organization that you believe merits such a label as “hate group?”

As I do not work for the SPLC, I cannot speak for them. I am sure they will be happy to answer your inquiry.

I briefly glanced at The Ruth Institute webpage, it seems to be very hard right, protestant and political.

Actually, Catholic, and supportive of family values – as in two committed parents (male and female) and their progeny. Anything else you have stated is your political opinion, speaking of “political.”

The page you linked does not state this is a Catholic org, it does have several “buzz words” that I find to be disturbing.

The statements infer that children born to single parents, children who are lovingly placed for adoption, children without perfect parents are “victims”.

That would be a misrepresentation.

Here is the paragraph:
The Ruth Institute is working to create a new story, a new narrative. The Victims of the Sexual Revolution are largely invisible in society and voiceless in the cultural conversation. The Ruth Institute is dedicated to inspiring the Victims of the Sexual Revolution, to become Survivors and ultimately Advocates for Positive Change. We believe giving voice to the Victims of the Sexual Revolution is due to them as a matter of justice. We also believe that their voices have unique potential to change the cultural narrative around family, marriage and human sexuality.
The point being that the sexual revolution has created many actual child victims in its wake, just as no fault divorce has left many child victims in the wake of broken marriages. Roback-Morse has done intensive studies on the question, so she doesn’t come at this as an uninformed activist.

Your research background on the issues would be?

I did not claim to be an expert on “The Ruth Institute” (which does say that they are a political group on that link you sent.)

I said that the SPLC defines hate groups, that they are clear what defines a hate group. I said that the Church teaches we are to fight against unjust discrimination, and that the SPLC fights against unjust discrimination.

Never said you have to like the SPLC, donate to the SPLC. The demonization of the SPLC comes from a distinct political mindset.

Thank you for the engagement, muting now.

Gotta go get a Chick Fil A for supper.

I gathered that when we moved from trite empty political jargon into details someone would bail out of the discussion. Always seems to happen.

Actually, following the forum rules about keeping on topic.

If you care to open a thread to discuss the “Ruth” group, I will discuss it there.

Seems very germane. The “Ruth group” is a Christian group the SPLC targets as a hate group, and the LGBT mob have been emboldened by the donation of Chick fil A to attack it.

Will you post links to the news stories about these attacks by LGBT persons on the Ruth group? I have not read of these.
