I agree that comics are not as big as they once were. However, these tracts are still handed by people at World Youth Day, and other events.

I’m not saying that we need to spend tons of time on them, but everyone who deals with Youth Ministry and apologetics should know they exist.

Perhaps even using some of them to properly teach the faith and talk about their foolishness might be a good idea for high schoolers.
This actually a great idea

👍

They are Baptists, and so Christians, no matter what they do. Yes, Christians are friends of Jesus because they follow His commands (John 15:14). We should just pray for them (Matthew 5:44).

Also, I do not (though I see your language carefully avoiding saying “all Protestants”; I appreciate that :)) support the idea of Chick tracts aimed at other Christians. Under “Chick tract” on Wikipedia, it’s ridiculous what the author asserts:

So, simply put, we must pray for the tract distributors and ensure that they are acting charitably towards their fellow Christians and towards others.
I have seen Roman Catholic materials hostile to Jehovah’s Witnesses.
I would like to take this opportunity and the above two poste to point out the ultra importance of having a visable church. One that has a definitive voice.

In the first quote above the conclusion is for all Christians to dig more deeply and listen more intently to the Holy Spirit and HOPEFULLY in doing so become better and more charitable christians with no resolution or no definitive voice calling out someone like a Chick for the whole world to know wheather or not he is spreading truth or untruth. Sure, the HS can and may show those the truth but obviously not all leaving some would be true beleivers misguided for an undertermined time. In the meantime those who consider this sort of information to be truth have no earthly authority telling them otherwise and therefore will continue promoting the untruth.

In the 2nd quote there is a simple resolution. Any Catholic spreading false information can be definitively identified apart from true Catholic teaching and will be corrected in their misrepresentations and be given ample room to repent before harsh actions are taken to seperate this kind of behavior from Christ’s Body.

I look forward to the day when all non-Catholic christians can police their faithful in a definitive earthly way and stop relying on the Holy Spirit to do so as if they, these same christians, are not part of Christ’s Body doing His work.

Peace!!!

How are we supposed to ensure they are acting charitably towards their fellow Christians, particularly when what they are promoting is at the very least uncharitable.

I haven’t seen it, I haven’t know someone who possessed it for distribution, I haven’t heard it in church. Even among fellow Catholics the only thing I’ve heard is complaints related to their knocking on doors, and those were about the aggressive and borderline belligerent behavior of those who knocked.

Some Chick tracts have valid points. Other Chick tracts espouse falsehoods about various topics. They rely on a different interpretation of the Bible than Catholics do, so Catholics have to be careful about the information presented in a Chick tract.

So I was in the rest room at wall mart and there was a chick track left for my reading enjoyment  It even had the name of the “Baptist” church that was associated with it. So some Protestants still think this unabashed attack on another Christian faith tradition is acceptable? Not very charitable or Christ like in my opinion. So that no one else had to endure such undignified reading I made sure it was deposited in the appropriate receptacle with the rest of the trash.
This is normal operating procedure for some Baptists. I go to a Baptist site and post and they routinely call us the “whore”, a cult, etc.

It should at least be obvious who believes in Jesus and who does not… we all know that Catholics believe in the same Jesus as other Christians. It is not the “Catholic Jesus” and the “Protestant Jesus,” it is “Jesus.”

But remember, some Evangelical groups are especially deep (and many Protestants getting deeper into, sadly) with the whole “everything that is not Evangelical Protestant is automatically an anti-God cult trying to take us to Hell!” scenario.

It’s ridiculous to maintain that even up till this era. It’s not the Middle Ages anymore. 🤷
Actually Jesus founded the Catholic Church. Indeed Jesus Christ and His Church, the Catholic Church, are One and the Same. What you seem to be exposing is relativism.

Some Chick tracts have valid points…
You’re right.
That’s why they put them on our car windshields. To give us something to wipe off the bird doo doo.
So grateful to those Baptists who provide this free service. Very Christ-like act.
😃

Please, tell us, just what are those
“valid” points!!! God Bless, Memaw

Jack Chick tends to be on the right side about homosexuality, abortion, the occult, and Islam.
This is often a misconception many have in an effort to be ecumenical and charitable.
However lets examine this.
Radical fundamentalists do not believe in Purgatory, only Heaven or Hell. The idea of a merciful God is abhorrent to them. Homosexuals go to Hell, period. The ‘occult’ takes in a wide loop that can include yoga or rock and roll. Unlike the Catholic Church they deny Muslims worship the same God. As for abortion, yeah. But they have no problem with birth control.
Also, they present a simplistic and radical view of those issues that lack any depth or spiritual maturity.
It’s like praising the KKK for their stand on the same issues.
Like another poster said, their tracts are best used for cleaning the windshield they are placed on.

Whenever I come across Chick Tracts, I toss’em out. They’re so full of misinformation, outright lies, and slander.

They also make great comedy. I regularly check into his site to find out what new laughs he’s released.
I as well.

Some of his biggest fans in fact are Catholics.

I find, though, his newer tracts aren’t as blatantly hilarious as some of his earlier works.

Some people from a local Baptist church came to my door yesterday.
They asked about my faith, and I explained that I was a Roman Catholic, and that, in fact, I work fro the Church, so no worries.
Then pressed me with “But do actually know Jesus Christ, and have you ever spoken to Him in your heart?”

Yeah.
We have a lot of misinformation about other faiths.
So do they. 😦
What did you say?
