Thinking to myself. The people who spread these tracts. Do they believe them because of Jack T. Chick, or do they believe them because their pastor told them to? Or do they believe they’re doing the world a favour? I mean, I could be the world’s biggest Anti-Catholic, but I would still find the assertion that the Catholic Church funded Mohammed and founded Freemasonary, Communism, and the LDS church to be a little insane.
Don’t forget the “Death Cookie!” Whenever I found these in my workplace, which thankfully wasn’t very often, I’d toss them in the round file. Along with the Watchtowers and Awake! magazines I constantly found everywhere.

I was engaged to a Calvary Chapel, evangelical protestant.
They pretty much take the word of what ever their pastor tells them as God.
from what I had experienced. I’m pretty sure, most people whom pass these out, believe that chick is some sort of prophet.
Remember when Chuck Smith predicted when Jesus would return? I believe it was 1980 or so.

Chick’s tracts were one of the first things which made me interested in Catholicism: the history in them was so appallingly prejudiced that it made me curious about how things had really happened.

I was a Southern Baptist for the first 20 years of my life, and I don’t think I have ever seen one.

The only reason I know about them is because of the Catholic apologetics books I read when I was learning about Catholicism.

From those books, and from this post, and from similar posts elsewhere, I get the impression that there are a lot of them out there, so I wonder why I’ve never seen one.

I have seen chick tracts since the 1970s when I left the Catholic Church. I was offended by them then and I am offended by them now. They are along the same lines of Westboro Baptist which is a baptist church in name only. they need to drop “Baptist” out of their name.

I would have only been about 1 years old when that was predicted. But I had read it online.
After doing research to see if I was just being hypersensative about CC being anti-catholic.
CC is pretty much Anti Everything.
I had some LDS missionary friends, whom where in Ca, serving their LDS mission.
The CC members where all given whistles to blow, when a mormon missionary would approach them, to alert everyone of a false gospel.

My friend told me, he would approach people and they would frantically blow their whistle.
This would have been like 10 years ago or so. Since I was told this story in 2010;

PM me anyone, if you want the link to the psycho dave jack chick tract archives.
I wont post it public, because some of it has blasphemous material in general.

But the anti-catholic parody tract, is hilariously good.

    1. There’s a new one every few months. Old JTC is on a roll.
ICXC NIKA.

I’ve always highly regarded those Chick Tracts and its special fixation with the Catholic Church. And, no, this isn’t irony. I’ve always seen those gross mockeries and misrepresentations of the Catholic Church like an acomplished prophecy of John 15:18-21

"If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, `A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also. But all this they will do to you on my account, because they do not know him who sent me.

So, many thanks to Chick Tracts to help people to discern and recognize the true Church of Christ. 👍

Jack Chick is known mainly in the world of Independent, fundamental Baptists, mainly KJV-only types. I encountered his garbage a few times years ago when I attended an IFB church. His influence is small even among IFBs.
Catholics have far more formidable enemies than this nutcase.

Your time could be so much more effective spent in holy reading and praying.
Put aside these tracts, and spend your time in a worthy endeavor.
the Church has a wealth of great offerings on virtually all topics of the faith.
Go there.
Amen! :clapping:

In all honesty, I enjoy reading them. Partially because they are so incredibly awful and incoherent. I used to be offended by them, but I have gotten to the point where I think they are funny, yet, I wonder how many people believe them. So people who are Catholic or sympathetic to Catholicism, especially converts, were you ever taken in by Mr Jack T.Chick? Those that belong to other religious traditions, have they, even though you don’t have our beliefs, ever frustrated you because you know they have really bad arguments? Thanks!
-Adam
garbage in, garbage out. I’m not sure what is there to gain by reading these things, even for so called “fun”. I’ll take St. Paul’s admonishment in Philipians, “What ever is true …
dwell on these things”. Chick tracts are not in that category and while they may be a big joke to you, too many people have been mislead by them and their lies. That really isn’t very funny. Sorry that this is to you.

I agree with the “garbage in, garbage out” thought but as Adam has mentioned in a couple of subsequent posts, he is and has been a Catholic apologist for a number of years. I, myself, have been a conservative Lutheran for over 30 years but have made an effort to understand the beliefs of those with whom I’ve been friends or neighbors. For me, it has helped my understand my faith in God more and I’ve learned more about the fundamental beliefs and apologetics of my Lutheran faith.

I found this site as my limited TV reception brought me to EWTN and I had more questions concerning what Catholics believe and why they do.

I do think that one should be well-grounded in their faith so that the garbage that comes in does not reflect as garbage out in the end. A better understanding of what you are studying in order to speak more knowledgeably with that person about the errors of their beliefs but in such a way that they are not turned away from God altogether.

BTW, I have never come across these tracts myself…I’ll have to do a web search to see about which you are speaking!

I once found a stack of Chick tracts in a public bathrooom. I took all of them home, read them for comedy, and chucked them into the fire place.

Op stated that he began to enjoy reading them because he thought they were funny and entertaining. They are not funny and entertaining. It has nothing to do with being well grounded or secure in one’s faith. There is so much more to read and study than grossly made cartoons that mock the Catholic Church and its teaching.

I guess it depends where you live. In the USA south I get the live versions at my door every so often. They smile and invite you to their ‘church’. Once you reply that you attend a Catholic Church the smiles disappear…lol.

As the op stated might be a good idea to at least know what you are going to encounter.
