I love Elton John’s music but I laugh everytime he opens his mouth everytime about something politically or religiously related, yea ok he wants to ban religion, like that’s ever going to happen.

I think he has a gift for music, though I would not list him as a singer I listen to on a regular basis at all. It’s a shame he’s become so hate filled, and I think it will ultimately destory his gift.

You don’t see anything wrong with taking a martyr who self sacrificed and using him in something he would oppose (homosexual actions) vehemently as a grave evil and using him as a poster boy for themselves?

What does “being homosexual” mean? He was a human being. We should not denigrate people by defining others by their sexuality. It is (name removed by moderator)recise in dangerously presenting a part of a human being as the whole human being.

The news article there is a little more informative. In fact the photo in question was bought at a public auction in New York and has been exhibited in several public galleries around the world.

Not having seen the photo in question, I cant make a judgment of it. It does seem strange that authorities would raise questions about it now when it has already been exhibited in the country before. Plus the photo in question is a picture of two girls.

I’m always telling my mom that there is a difference between homosexuality and pedophilia. I’ve had homosexual friends that would never dream of touching a child.
Thats why it really annoyed me when the church was trying to say that it was homosexual priests who were abusing the children. No, it was pedophiles who were abusing children, it had nothing to do with homosexuality. Look at the Priest that was killed in the World Trade center on 9/11, the fire chaplain. He was homosexual, but he was a great man and a great christian. Someone worthy of Sainthood. He’s one that would have never hurt a child.

I have it wrong? Geese pal, look at yourself first. First of all, I will condemn Elton John when I know the facts of the case, if it is indeed pornographic. Innocent until proven guilty.
Second, I didn’t say that the Priest from 9/11 was acting on the homosexuality, which from the documentory, it said that he didn’t. But, and this is what my very orthodox Priest told me. There is nothing wrong with being homosexual, if you do not act on it. And even if the person does act on it, you still cannot hate the person or teach others to hate them. That is contraditory to Jesus’ teaching of loving everyone, including grave sinners.
I do not condone the homosexual sex act, not have I said so in any post, but i do not condone hate mongering chirsitan who would just as soon see every homosexual drawn and quartered.
My motto is love the sinner but hate the sin.
And how dare you try and tell me that I don’t know church teaching. I know it very well, thank you very much. By my loving sinners as Jesus taught, and choosing not to hate them, I think I might have a better grip on it than you do.

Your statement argues that as a homosexual Elton John has license to have lewd and disgusting art-because… he would never hurt a child (you stated that homosexuals “would never dream” of it). What am I missing here? Having illegal pornographic pictures of children is not defensible under any circumstance. I am sorry I am not open minded enough to believe your argument holds water (even if an Orthodox priest does buy your argument).
As a Christian I have a duty to protect the weakest among us, especially children.

I accept your apology fully. And prehaps I really did not make myself clear enough, and what I said was probably misunderstood. If the pictures that Elton John had were indeed child pornography, then all I can say is shame on him and I hope they do not go easy on him. But if he his a pedophile it has nothing to do with him being a homosexual, that has been proven many times by the medical community. Pedophilia and homosexuality are two very different things. I’ve seen so many cases on tv where the men charged with raping a child have been married with children of their own. Nothing in this world sickens me more than pedophiles, and nothing angers me more than these judges that set them free without any punishment. Bank robbers usually get more prison time and child rapists.
What angered me though is that people were so ready to judge him without even knowing the facts of the case. They don’t even know if the picture was indeed child pornography. No one should pass judgement unless they know the facts. I’ve seen cases about pictures that were supposedly child pornography, that were nothing of the sort at all. When U2, the band, first released their album Boy back in the 80’s, the album cover was banned in the US for being borderline pornographic. The album showed a young boy without a shirt on. Very innocent and nothing pornographic at all. That was a case of people being too careful and a bit absurd.
I will never accept the homosexual lifestyle, I do think it is wrong. But I will never hate a person for being homosexual. I will love them and treat them with respect and kindess, just like any of Gods children.
I think where I lost my temper a bit was hearing people say that Elton is probably a pedophile because he’s homosexual. I know homosexuals that would be very hurt and upset to read a comment like that.

I read the article that Elric provided, and I honestly do not believe that the picture is pornographic. I also do not believe that Elton John is a pedophile, seeing as the picture in question depicts two girls.
If he is, at least I’ve proven that pedophilia has nothing to do with homosexuality. If it did, Elton’s picture would depict boys.

Paedophillia is quite a strong subject and it can get people quite “heated” opposing it (rightly so). But sometimes it can cloud their judgment and distort their perception of things.
