I think we should hold Priests to a higher standard and overly mixing the two may be construed as a tu quoque response. Plus, the actions taken are different for Priests vs the general population.
Then we should also hold to a higher standard ministers, deacons, rabbis and particularly teachers. When you send your children to school you should expect them to be treated by respect from the teachers. But frequently I’m hearing in particular female teachers seducing and raping teen age boys! It used to be only male teachers, but at least in Utah there have been at least 5 or 6 of these cases during the past year alone. They’re much more of a menace to our teenage boys than the small minority now of priests, ministers, etc. This is outrageous, yet for the most part it’s not talked about in the media.

Nothing is stopping you from taking action as a concerned parent, go for it! :clapping:
Amen. That’s exactly what I’m doing. Will you join me in the fight against child abuse? That’s what this thread is about, afterall.
I just don’t think the Church should be scolding :tsktsk: other organizations for allowing abuse,
And the Church doesn’t scold, that I know of. Nor do I. I merely point out the facts and ask questions…questions that people don’t want to answer for some reason. 😉
and I suggested any church focus should [be] on sharing best practices.
And so the Church does, and so I report. And what I ask is that we Christians and non-believers put those best practices to use, so that we can protect ALL our children, not just the Catholic ones. 👍
It appears to me that some folks don’t think non-Catholic children worthy of protection…because some folks aren’t doing much about this problem, if anything at all. And some even accuse anti-abuse activists (like myself) of having agendas when we try to rally the troops to fight against abuse. Curious, isn’t that?
