Childern of (old) Israel?

One reason may be that the Jews are the descendents of the man named Israel (Jacob); they are literally the children of Israel.

Another may be that God still has a plan for the Jews, even though they did not all convert to Christianity.

Why does CHrist reffer to the Jews as Israel, if they are not a part of the new Israel? Is he simply reffering to the old Israel, such as in Acts 2:36?
Because Israel is Israel, and the Church is the Church. There is a remnant of Israel preserved in the Church. Israel outside the church, which have not come to faith in Messiah Jesus, are broken branches but can be grafted back into the olive tree.
