Your idea certainly corresponds to our belief that we are made in the image of God who has given us the power to reject Him and exist solely for ourselves in “splendid isolation”. It also corresponds to the fact that the lust for power is the main cause of the bloodstained history of humanity and the colossal amount of unnecesssary suffering in the world.

It’s not a lust for power that is blame for our bloodstained history, but It has to do with God’s plan for our salvation. As stated by St Paul, in all things God works for the good. This includes war and other violence.

In all things God works for the good but the bloodstained history of humanity and the colossal amount of unnecessary suffering in the world are not a part of God’s plan.
They are the result of man’s abuse of free will - which is often motivated by the lust for power.
