Childlike in Confession

Hello everyone,
Is it just me or does everyone who goes to confession feel like a child at times?.I mean,I am a grown man but when I am kneeling in the confessional telling Jesus my sins I feel like a naughty child at times, is this usual? has anyone else experienced this?.

I don’t think it unusual at all. We ARE his children, are required to be humble before the Heavenly Father when confessing our sins. To me this can create the type of feeling you describe, and I don’t think it is strange or inappropriate.

Matthew 18:3 Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

since Jesus told us to become like little children in order to enter the Kingdom, I think that is a good thing

So much so that at times I have to fight back the tears. I just feel so sad at what I’ve said or done and when I hear it come out of my mouth I am so ashamed.

I get really scared before confession. I’ve literally have seen my heart pounding out of my chest (maybe it was the aorta, but either way… not fun). It’s an even more intense feeling than telling my earthly parents that I’ve done wrong and asking for their forgivness.

But even with the discomfort and fear, it is so worth going to confession just for the simple fact of know that my sins are forgiven. Probably not the best of motives for going to confession, but hey, I’m growing here.

Actually when I go to confession sometimes I swear I can see Jesus. And lots of times I’m still scared to go but I go and do the best that I can. Sometimes I feel like a “phony”.
