“Let the little children come to me!” Yes, it can be distracting at times (and not always because they’re crying, but because they can be, and do, incredibly cute things), but for me, I refocus by thanking God for all of these blessings (though sometimes I cannot suppress the laughter, and I pray that God understands). These children are the future of the Church (either by answering God’s call to a religious vocation, or one day raising holy families themselves). Besides, how are kids going to learn how to act in Church unless they are made to… Granted, kids under a certain age have a very short attention span, and some, regardless of age, have very high energy levels, so it can be a bit more difficult to be able to manage them at times, but like with anything worth doing, consistency is very important, if not necessary. They’ll eventually grow out of it.
Perhaps those who attend a Tridentine Mass tend to be more open to accepting any children God sends them, though I do know of some big families who have never prayed an EF Mass, who are equally as open to that call.
