Our parish allowed second graders who will be making their First Holy Communion to sit in the Priest’s chair in the sanctuary during a church tour. I was uncomfortable with this, and wondered if there is any restriction on this.

I would not assume that it is “wrong”…during a tour of the Church it is supposed to foster questions from the young people.

A lot of churches even allow the (older kids coming into the church) to try on the vesments.

I don’t think it is wrong…(I could be wrong)…but I don’t believe that allowing the children to sit in the presidents chair is “wrong”, as long as they where not horse playing on the altar.

God bless you and Mary keep you,

Cody

P.S. I could be wrong…if someone knows, I will humbly take correction…PAX!

How neat! I don’t ever get to sit in the priest’s chair!

And why could it be wrong? If it were being done in a very disrespectful way, I could see a problem. But that problem would not be one of sitting in the chair; it would be one of being disrespectful. Different issue…
