What Catholic childrens’ Bible do you all,recommend? My twins are 10 yrs. old and just entered the church at Easter of this year.

Depends on the child. My son LOVED his illustrated children’s bible when he was younger. He’s 10 now and likes having a small (tiny print) New Testament and a small (tiny print) Catholic Bible that zips up. He still likes to read through the story-format of the children’s Bible, but also is able to appreciate the actual scriptures.

Incidentally, one thing that brought a huge increase in my son’s interest in scripture is listening to “Adventures in Odyssey.” This is a radio show produced by Focus on the Family with interesting characters and engaging stories. This is a protestant ministry, and that occasionally comes through in their story lines, but that has opened up some good talking points with my son and me. Because of this show, my son has started memorizing scripture verses, and has impressed our parish priests and deacons with his knowledge and questions (like when he asked a deacon for more information on the Q document! :D)

But I’m rambling now. If possible, have your daughters go with you to choose the Bible(s) they prefer. If they have buy in, they’re more likely to read them.

I second the recommendation on the Catholic Children’s Bible from St. Mary’s Press. It’s the only one I’ve found that is a complete Bible and not just a collection of stories from the Bible.
