Any good children’s book recommendations for children 2-5?

If you have a recommendation, please list the title and author if convenient and a brief synopsis.

For example, one of the books I read to my son recently that I love is called The Giant King, by ?, synopsis (cranky giant becomes kind after a boy convinces the people of the kingdom to treat him like a king. Giant later offers to lay down his life for the people and eventually becomes the king).

My kids loved the Adam Raccoon series by Glenn Keane. They are parables rewritten and illustrated beautifully and kids really enjoy them.

My SIL recently gave me the entire set of Catholic Children’s Treasure Box story books. My almost 4 year old loves them. We have only read through the first couple so far, and have been re-reading them each several times.

They are edited by the Maryknoll Sisters, and were originally published in the 1950’s. Each book contains several short stories and other things such as poems, games, or activities. The early ones, which we have been reading, feature stories of St. Therese, and Wupsy the Gaurdian Angel. My daughter loves hearing the stories about St. Therese.

I’m sure you could also find them sold individually, but from what I have looked at, it is cheaper to buy them in sets.

I’ve always liked Marcer Mayer’s Little Critter books.

Any Dr. Seuss books are great for that age.
