Childs baptism without her father's consent

I am a Roman catholic, I got married to a protastant. I have a 5yr old daughter she was baptised in the protestant church when she was 3 months old. now my husband and I are seperated not yet divorced. I want my daughter to be brought up in the catholic faith.I go regularly to church and recieve the communion. when my parents contacted a priest he said that without my husbands consent my daughter cannot be baptised to be a catholic. the present parish priest is not aware that i am a non catholic i am afraid to talk to him worried if he will not let me recieve the holy communion.
my husband has not supported my i have broughtup the child by my self with the help of my parents, he does not agree for a divorece nor does he want to stay with us.
i want to know that is it necessary for his consent for her baptism. or can i get legally seperated and then independently approach a priest for the same. please help me.

If your daughter was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit the Catholic church would not rebaptized because there is no need. The Church recognizes the baptism of other protestant denominations as long as the formula is correct.

When we say in the Creed “One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism” - we mean it!

There is only one valid baptism. If your daughter was baptized in a Protestant congregation - as long as she was baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit - she was validly baptized.

Get a copy of her baptismal record from the place where she was baptized so it can be entered at the Catholic Church, she will need it for First Communion and Confirmation later on.

As other poster have stated, your daughter’s baptism is very likely to be valid. Especially since she was baptised as an infant–usually that means she was baptised in a Lutheran, Methodist, or Anglican church and they will have used the triune formula.

I think you should be more concerned about the part I bolded above. Are you Catholic or not? If you aren’t a baptised Catholic, you should not be receiving communion. Please, please speak with your priest and ensure that your situation is taken care of. He will be able to help you get confirmed if that is necessary and certainly you should be going to confession regularly (we ALL should!). Your daughter is still a little child–you have a few years before you’ll need to worry about any sacraments other than her baptism which is probably fine. But at your meeting with the priest you can tell her where she was baptised and he will let you know.
