Child's night prayer

One of the night prayers that my parents taught me many years ago went like this: Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I give you my heart and my soul. (I believe this short prayer would be referred to as an “ejaculation”). I have found it useful to repeat this prayer, especially in times of temptation. My question is, does anyone else use this or a similar prayer, and does anyone know where it came from? My parents are both deceased, so I can’t ask them directly.

The line you quoted reminded me of something I just read in: “FATIMA in Lucia’s own words”

An angel appeard to the three children some time before the Marian apparitions and taught the chilldren a prayer on two different occasions. The first one was: “My God I believe, I hope and I love you! I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, donot adore, do not hope and do not love You.”

The second prayer ran thus:

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I adore You profoundly, and I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, SOUl and divinity…

The prayers are different, but they have the same flavour.

I think the prayer you were taught was probably invented by your parents based on their own faith and the deep immersion they had in the devotions they practiced…

My mon taught my sisters & brother and myself that invocation as well, and I continue to pray it. About 10 - 15 years ago I came across a novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and it had that ejaculation and two more - which I now also pray:

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I give Thee my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, may I breathe forth my soul in peace with Thee. Amen.

I don’t know where it originally came from.

The two prayers my child prays are these:

‘Infant Jesus meek and mild look on me a little child take my heart and bless it that nothing evil may possess it. Amen’

and

‘Angel of God my Guardian dear to whom God’s love commits me here, ever this day be at my side to light and guard to rule and guide. Amen’

Then we go through the …

'God Bless Mummy, God Bless Grandma, God Bless all the little children, God Bless all the animals, God Bless the poorly people, God Bless the homeless people, God Bless my toys etc etc and then she’ll thank God for the people and for the things '
