SANTIAGO, Chile — The Rev. Fernando Karadima is one of Chile’s most respected and influential priests. Some go so far as to call him a “living saint,” who for half a century trained dozens of priests and helped mold thousands of young Catholics from Santiago’s elite.

Now four men who were once devoted followers have filed a criminal complaint alleging that Father Karadima, now 80, sexually abused them in secret for years.

They do not have newspapers in Chile? Does anyone know whether these people get paid by the paper for their stories?

I just read the article— this doctor was 17 years old when he joined this priest’s movement, and the “20 years of abuse” took place starting some time after that.

Seventeen years old! And his alleged relationship continued for 20 years!

This has nothing to do with pedophilia, and everything to do with homosexuals having an affair. If this guy had been a few more months old when it happened, he would simply be a homosexual helping a priest break his vow of chastity.
 
Yes, should be an interesting trial. Let’s hope enough facts come out to allow for a reasoned conclusion. It is a little fragmented right now.
