Choice?

Yes but isn’t God the Father’s Choice (Jesus Christ) for you, yours to have and receive? You are not worthy to receive, but He is worthy to be received, because He is God the Father’s Choice for you. Any other choice but God’s Choice for you, would be against God’s Choice wouldn’t it?

I think maybe you take the “give life to get life” a little to literally. We are not Fundamentalist Here. We take things in the contextual meaning except for the words actually spoken by Christ.

Now - When we say give life it is meant that one would dedicate life to service of Christ. For very few of us will martyrdom be required. As a matter of fact less than a third of all saints are actually martyrs.

Mt:10:39: He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Mt:16:25: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Mk:8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

Why would martyrdom be required to give up your choice for God’s Choice? Isn’t it true that one must be dead unto himself to be alive in Christ. If it is God’s Choice for one to be martyred, what is the difference, you can’t keep this life in the world anyway?

Martyrdom is not required of everyone. The contextual point of this is that you must be prepared to put Christ before everything. It is a profound statement but a true statement. The first thing you put in front of Christ is the first you will lose when you turn your back on him. Yes these are extreme examples from extreme times where people were put to death for identifying themselves as followers of Christ. Our faith and loyalty must be absolute. That is what is being said - not that we need to become martyrs.

I have been there - and as I said the majority of us are not called to be martyrs. The Christians that I met basically practiced in secret. It was sad. However, I would not look at being Christian as being any more dangerous in those societies as being Jewish or being the wrong sect of Islam. Again that is the minority of our Faith and it is sad that it happens but it is still the minority of the people in our Faith.
 
Ether way, the Living God, is the God of the living, not the dead. (Mk:12:26-27)
