I certainly agree that people are far more interested in topics that hit them closer to home. That’s only natural. But I agree with SugarMagnolia: In the posts I’ve encountered on this forum, people who take into consideration anything BUT abortion when voting are criticized very harshly far more than those who don’t criticize and take into account that people might be looking at the whole picture and not just one priority of a candidate. When I vote, I take into account the whole picture, not just abortion. And I base my decision on the whole picture.

With regards to politics, it should be dealt with with as folks in my neck of the woods deal with shooting predatory animals: SSS (shoot shovel and shutup) 😉 In other words, vote and don’t talk about it, otherwise you’re just inviting all kinds of inappropriate dialog.
I think there needs to be a actual dialogue, in regards to hot-button issues. We’re never going to solve anything if we can’t talk about it.

I don’ get it either. I think having a kid in your 40’s is a little much.I wouldn’t do it. I like having my mom around when I grow up, and would like her to meet her adopted grandchildren. 😃
Wow, with that kind of thinking my mom would have never been born, and neither would I have been. My grandmother had my youngest uncle at the age of 48 and my mom had me when she was 41.

God’s timing is always perfect. We are called to be open to life and to God’s will. Its only selfish if we think we know better than God.

Eris, it depends on how receptive each side is to the other. Yes, there needs to be actual dialog, and with reasonable people, it’s quite useful. But what is it going to solve when one side calls the other names, warps what the other side says, or condemns the other side for what they believe? You can’t have a meaningful dialog with someone who won’t allow you your own thoughts and beliefs in a particular subject matter.

I’d like to have some interesting, meaningful and educational dialogs…but not with somene calls me names or who insists I believe something I don’t…or who tells me I have to agree with them or I’m wrong. That’s not really a dialog…

Wow, That’s really late. It does take a lot to have kids later on. 40’s with close monitoring of the pregnancy is feasible, but it’s still hard. It’s commendable that both your mom and grandparents were up to it. I couldn’t do it.

Yes, and that’s the problem. People jump down each other’s throats over everything. I’ve seen a lot of what you describe with a lot of the things you have said on here. I’ve had the same thing happen. It’s not unreasonable to ask for dialogue and for people to be respectful, and some people can’t handle that 🤷

Hello,

I briefly read through most of the posts. I applaud the OP!

I strongly believe that the world is overpopulated. One only needs to look at how many children die of starvation; people rioting over limited resources and jobs. The earth is finite and has a finite number of resources - these are facts.

I think it is more responsible to think of those kids that are already here than to think of your own legacy, what have you. Kudos to the OP! I don’t recall any specific verses in the New Testament that married couples are to have children; nor that it is a sin not to in the Old and New Testaments.

Peace and God bless,

Lizahana
