I am a 26 year old male who has a profile on Catholic Match. I have a hearing disability which requires me to wear a hearing aid. However, I don’t mention this on my profile because I don’t think it’s really that important. To me, having a hearing aid is just like wearing glasses. It seems silly to mention in a profile that you wear glasses. Maybe it’s because glasses are more common than hearing aids. But I also feel that only if your disability could be a challenge to having a relationship (being in a wheelchair, muscular dystrophy, etc) should it be included in your profile. My hearing disability doesn’t provide a challenge because I can hear very well with it and you probably wouldn’t know I had a problem unless you saw the hearing aid. Plus, where would you draw the line? Just how much should you reveal in your profile?

I would like your thoughts on this, especially women because I’d like to know if this is something I should include in my profile or leave it out. Thank you and have a restful Sunday 🙂

I would leave it out. Whenever you are meeting someone new there is never an expectation of full disclosure for trivial matters. Since you can hear fine with aide it falls under the trivial category.

I don’t see why a hearing impairment corrected with a hearing aid would be important to describe yourself to anyone: in person or on a dating profile.

An introduction of yourself is not a medical history form.

May God lead you in your dating relationships.

Yea, it’s so not important to put in a dating profile.

Unless of course, you want to use it to showcase your sense of humor, aka “I wear a hearing aid but have never tuned a woman out”.

Rest easy and be assured that you are correct to not mention your hearing aid in your CM profile. It does not define you and a profile is meant to act as a general introduction. If you are dating someone for a while the subject may come up but by then you will be getting to know each other better so it would be appropriate. Good luck with dating!

Well, the thing with glasses is that people will actually see the glasses on any picture the person might post, if they have them on, that is. I believe I wouldn’t mention the hearing aid, I just don’t see the need to.

Unless they are wearing contacts. 🤷 OP, dont worry about it, there is no need to put such things on your profile. 🙂

I don’t see any reason to include this in your profile. If I were still single and looking, I wouldn’t be upset to find out someone wore a hearing aid.
