Chrism Mass

Did anyone attend the Chrism Mass today (or if it was earlier this week)? This was my second year, and it was so beautiful! The music was awesome, and the bishop’s homily was so wonderful. He spoke of how much the priests are loyal to the Catholic Church, and he said “Our priests are at faithful service to everyone, everyday, and no newspaper headline or critic of the Church can ever change that.” It was such a powerful homily.

I’ve never attended Chrism Mass my entire life as a Roman Catholic. I just never lived close enough to the Cathedral and would go to our parish instead for celebrations there. Today is my first time but as a Byzantine Catholic, I served at the Divine Liturgy with the Bishop and 3 priests. It was a good Liturgy, 2 hours long!

In our diocese it is held on Tuesday of holy week. I served as deacon Tuesday this week. It was incredible! Praise God!

in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the Chrism Mass is Monday of Holy Week at our Cathedral in North Baltimore. I live 45 minutes from the Cathredal and never been to one. Since there is work the next day I never been before.

I went to the Chrism mass today and got to be in the procession with the Oils. Also I had to pick up the oils for the parish since none of our priests went.

I always go to the chrism mass and i dont even bother driving to the cathedral because it is os easy to get there on the train i just park at the park and ride and go on the train it stops about 4 blocks from the cathedral so when i get off the train I just walk the 4 blocks to the cathedral i never miss it

Our Chrism Mass (archdiocese of Seattle) was last Thursday. I went for the first time (I’m in RCIA and man was it beautiful and CATHOLIC (in the universal way). Old Testament reading in Spanish, New Testament reading in Polish, and the homily was done by a Cardinal who was born in Ghana (He is now the pontificate president of justice and peace). Made my faith even grow more in strength!

I assisted at our diocese’s chrism Mass this year, and it was glorious! A wonderful choir, spectacular vestments, some chant (including the entire gospel), EP I, and tons of incense!

We have to drive hundreds of miles to get to our Cathedral so I’ve only attended the Chrism Mass twice, once when I had a voucher for a free flight due to being bumped and another time when I was flown out to represent my parish.

This year our Chrism Mass took place last Thursday, the day after the Installation of our new Bishop. The elders who were interested in attending both events were invited to put their names in a hat for a draw for two tickets. Our sacristan and her husband were the lucky couple to represent us at the installation and to receive the Holy Oils at the Chrism Mass.
