Christ a lesser God?

If Trinity is true, then it is necessary that Christ is also Almighty. However, in 1 Timothy 6:15 “For, At just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all Lords.” Then this Almighty God gives Christ, does this mean that God gives himself? How do I prove that Christ is also Almighty.

Yes, in and through Christ God reveals and gives Himself. The Church addressed the issue of Christ’s divinity some 1700 yrs ago. While Scripture can be a bit vague and seemingly ambiguous, there are plenty of verses in support of Christ’s Godhood.

At the end of the day, however, we know that Christ is God because His Church tells us He is. And you’ll find in any case that, while He’s just like us, there’s also something very different about this Fellow.

To answer the title question: NO, ne, nein, non, nyet.

I had this talk with a Jehovah’s Witness and said that Christ is God but not the Almighty. But in this verse the one that who will give Christ is not the “only Almighty God”, rather the one sent him.

@Senyorico,

Saint John 1:1

… And the Word was God.

Christ is the Word of God.

Yes, they admit that Christ is a God but not the Almighty God

@Senyorico,

The JWs use an altered translation that was influenced by an excommunicated Catholic priest’s wife who channeled spirits in seances.

That alone disqualifies their translation.

Jesus, as the Son, submitted to the Father in all things. An act of submission doesn’t equate to inferiority, or to the Son being a lesser God. The Son is divine and eternal just as the Father is divine and eternal.

@Senyorico,

Still: Just do a plain reading of Saint John 1:1

The Word WAS God.

Jehovah’s Witness and said that Christ is God but not the Almighty.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christian. In picking and choosing one verse instead of reading the Scriptures holistically, and also using their own made up version of the bible, they try to confuse Catholics and others.

JWs deny the Trinity. They deny the divinity of Jesus.

So of course they cannot understand that the bible sometimes speaks of Jesus in his humanity and other times speaks of Jesus in his divinity.

@Senyorico

Your statement: This is from a different Bible.

Are you talking about theirs or yours?

@Senyorico,

Stick to your guns on Saint John 1:1 and begin by questioning them on the truth of THEIR Bible’s accuracy in translation.

How do I demonstrate he being Almighty?
Jesus refers to himself as “I AM”, which references back to God speaking to Moses through the burning bush. Some of the onlookers accused him of blasphemy and tried to stone him.

This is from a different bible
Refuse to use their bible. Insist on using the ACTUAL bible. Use a good Catholic bible.

If you really want to take on JWs you need to be a lot more solid in your own faith. It doesn’t sound like you can really discuss the Trinity with confidence.

You should purchase and study this:

Jehovah’s Witnesses are basically Arian in their understanding of the three persons of the Trinity. Nothing new here, this is an old heresy. But then they add on all sorts of other bizarre beliefs that have nothing to do with Arianism.

Also, @Senyorico:

Quote all those times Jesus forgave sins. Only God can forgive sins. That’s a good way to take them down.

I agree with @1ke:

Don’t be forced to use their Bible. Stick to a good Catholic Bible and don’t budge. Never let them trap you into their way of thinking. Steer clear and stay on a good Catholic Bible.

Again, this wasn’t from their Bible. I even looked on Greek texts to see if the one who gave Christ is the only Almighty God. And it is indeed true, however I can see no evidence of the Bible that states Christ as Almighty.
