Regarding your inquiry regarding the status of the book entitled Christ Among Us by Anthony Wilhelm, the imprimatur was withdrawn in 1984. The text has been revised since that time, in 1996, but we can no longer find evidence that the revised text bears an imprimatur.

Perhaps you should. There was nothing in my response that would have warrented such sarcasim from you. Your made an assumption and you know what they say about that at least the frist part of it would be true.

the books are here, 1996 is the last copyright date
no imprimatur
publisher is no longer Paulist Press, now it is a Harper One (harper collins) imprint

it is as bad as I remember when in 1984 the liberal pastor of one of the most liberal parishes in our diocese at that time, banned to book for RCIA use.

if there have been revisions they are cosmetic only

I am paying particular attention to the bibliography after each chapter and discussion questions. at least one heterodox, downright heretical, prominent non-Catholic, and/or radical feminist source on each list.

This was the most widely used adult education material for nearly 20 years. It was given to me in 1974 by the Catholic Church when I converted to my husband’s faith. I still have it: first edition. We used this to raise our 4 children, and encouraged them to explore their own conscience and internalize their faith. Now our family is considered “cafeteria Catholic.” This is a tragedy. I can only feel that the church leaders made a grave error, and are still making it.This is going to alienate millions of their faithful followers. We are not at fault. It is the church leaders who are making our faith into a cafeteria which no longer serves ecumenical thinking.
 
I do apologize if you take offense at my anger, which I feel is righteous indignation. Please understand that my husband and I have never accepted serious things like abortion. We have continually practiced our faith, and have no intention of doing otherwise. We understand that some texts may have watered down the most central core of our faith, the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Because we have continually renewed our adult education, we sense this even more deeply, and could never believe otherwise. We are offended by political confrontation at Mass, on matters which do not personally concern us. In addition, we are challenged to keep our grown children Catholic. How do aging parents now face this?
