Hello everyone I was wondering if there is a prayer you can say to bless a christ candle that you are going to use for Christmas at home. I know there are some prayers you can say to bless an advent wreath but I was wondering if there are any for a Christ candle.

Like other sacramentals, you should have it blessed by a priest. Laypersons are not capable of blessing objects.
 
I am sorry I have confused you lizaanne I have heard it be called many things but the candle you burn on Christmas day.

That’s my guess too, though this is the first time I’ve encountered any mention of Catholics using it. It’s something I grew up with in the United Methodist Church, and I was surprised when, upon becoming Catholic, I saw that only the four Advent candles were used.

I don’t remember it being called a “Christ candle” though. I’ve only heard that term used for the Paschal Candle we use at Easter.

Don’t know if there is a blessing for candles one could have a priest give.
 
Yes I am referring to the middle white candle I am new to the catholic faith and like I said have heard it be called many different things, it just seems like Christ candle has stuck in my head. I had just heard that you light a middle candle and after buying my advent wreath I bought a “middle candle” I never really asked a priest if catholics light a middle candle I just had heard it somewhere.
 
Interesting - I don’t think I’ve ever seen this in a Catholic Church.
