I fail to see how repentence is not a part of what Jesus came to teach us.
Is it possible to preach Christ Jesus as a Catholic?

Do you believe Catholics recieve the spirit of God?

I would not say we struggle with idols “OF” the heart… but rather, that we struggle with idols that seek to overtake our hearts. But is it truly possible for us to be overcome by idols if we allow Christ to dwell within us?

I would say if we are alive in Christ, then it is He who guards our hearts and leads us into truth. Where is the truth found? What does the Bible say “is the Pillar and Bulwark” of the Truth?

Are you my teacher, Underdog?

Is that why you are here at CAF? To open our eyes to the “real” truth, and not the truth as revealed in Christ’s church?

The Bible has a few things to say about those who would seek to lead us astray.

Maybe if I meditate on your suggested passage just long enough, I will begin to understand it the way YOU would like me to, rather thant he way Christ and the Holy Spirit have revealed it to my heart!
 
In all sincerity, it would be much more profitable for discussion if you could give an honest portrayal of why you believe Catholics do not “emphasize” or put Christ at the center of our hearts.

Thus far, I see every reason to believe quite the contrary… Christ has been more alive and cenetered in my heart and life since becoming Catholic than ever before! He is more real and tangible than I ever imagined:)

Dear Ashley,

Please give me your understanding of this Bible passage. I would be very interested to see why you seem so upset with me. I never knew Christians who were upset with other Christans who pointed them to Jesus Christ. I love when my brothers and sisters remind me of Jesus Christ.

I am not upset with anyone who points to Christ:) Indeed I am not “upset” at all.

It does not remind me of Christ however, to accuse Catholics of not placing Christ at the center of our hearts.

You are accusing us of something that is no small matter. Yet, you cannot explain your position, or tell us what we are doing “wrong” or HOW we are “missing” this fact.

It would be much more charitable to share how YOU place Christ at the center of your heart, and contrast that with Catholic practice… if that is truly what you are disputing.

You are not here to “share…” you’re here to dispute, rebuke, and train in “underdog’s” understanding of love for Christ.

Is that what Christian love is about?

Pointing to Jesus does not upset Christians. Pointing to a flawed understanding of Jesus does.

We say Jesus started the Catholic Church** to help lead us to him**. We quote scripture to prove it, and to prove that Catholics’ understanding is correct. You say he did not, yet the scriptures you quote are irrelevant as to whether Jesus started our church or not.

Until you grasp this, you will not be able to understand the lack of agreement you’re facing in this thread.
 
Christ is everything and my words here and otherwise will not be enough, nor should I concern myself that they have to be.

The two great commandments, love neighbor and God, are the foundational basis of my faith.

Relative to those who call all of this organized madness, that is their choice of opinion and will be respected by me.

My faith is termed by some relative since truth or receiving it is not easy at all.

AS ALWAYS, private messages for the those who want detail or wish to argue.

How many times do you have to be told by many, many Catholic posters that Christ is everything to us. The Catholic Church is **important **to us because it was established by Christ and still follows His teaching. And no, we don’t believe that every Catholic is perfect and will go to heaven or that every non-Catholic is terrible and will not go to heaven. You have been told these things over and over again. You asked why and have been answered! This is what we believe…which is what you asked! If you believe something else, well so be it. That is your perogative.
Now stop changing the subject. Open new threads for new topics if you so choose and they can be addressed there.
We agree…Christ is everything!

May God bless you, me and all of us on our spiritual journey and lead us to His truth! But remember He has the truth…not you and we all should be continually seeking…Christ!!!
 
I have hard copy of numerous posts and recognize that statement MY QUESTION NO IS ------ WHY DO THOSE OF YOU respond as you do when a reply was due to further questions asked of me by people who have viewed the forums several times and choose to stay away…? (THE HARD COPIES ARE NOT IMPORTANT OR NECESSARY TO HAVE, anyway…) FURTHER, they choose not to attend Mass or other worship services.

I learned a long time ago whether here,in person, otherwise, not to be fanatical in my behavior.

WITH THAT SAID, I apologize to you are now offended.

What is the issue, if any, with asking questions again?

Some people just do not understand or what to understand is the basis of my point.

Regardless of what faith journey is on or is not is further to the point
(I am speaking for those who think you may be a little nutty or wants to understand your points, regardless of the forums dialogue or not.

Hypercritical or not based on the people we all know.
 
I believe that how we see the person and work of Christ will ultimately affect our affection and love for God in this world. Your responses to these two significant questions should bring additional insight to our Christian discussion. Please try to answer these two basic questions without trying to promote or defend Roman Catholicism.
  1. What did Jesus Christ accomplish by His life and death on our behalf?
  2. What did Jesus Christ mean by the statement of “it is finished”?
Our growing love for God revealed in Jesus Christ is linked to our knwledge and understanding of the person and work of Jesus Christ. So, how great of a Savior do we have? How great of a work did Jesus do in His life and death 2,000 years ago?

Thanksgiving and Prayer

I’m confused why seem to think Catholic’s and our love for Christ conflicts with this passage…

Before you ask us about the work of Christ crucified and “it is finished” I would like to hear YOUR undersrtanding of it:) Otherwise you are portraying your question as if you have the correct answer, and are asking rhetorically so that you may ask more questions to get us to see it the way you do, without actually TELLING us how you see it…
