Christ said the end is near...............I'm still waiting.

I actually think the end is very near. Pope Leo VIII’s vision in 1884, speaking of Satan being given 100 years to destroy the Church seems to point to it. That and the Fatima message both. Not to mention Garabandal (not approved yet) prophecizing about a Warning and coming Chastisement. Though Garabandal hasn’t been approved yet, I’ll have to say it has some credibility. I know that St Padre Pio believed in it and knew the girls (he also always saw his guardian angel and often saw Mary in his lifetime). St Padre Pio and several other saints have talked about a “3 Day of Darkness” as well with a message of urgency. Lucia of Fatima also said that Jesus often sent his Mother as a final way to plead with the world. This makes sense as Mary has been appearing more and more within the past century and a half, and though some being false, many have been approved by the Church.

Clearly, its been over 2000 years since Christ. So what does all this mean? 🙂

Luke 17:37 (NLT)

37 “Where will this happen, Lord?” the disciples asked.
Jesus replied, “Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.”

Matthew 24:28 (NLT)

28 Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.

Revelation 3:11 (NLT)

11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.

Revelation 22:7 (NLT)

7 “Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book.”

Revelation 22:12 (NLT)

12 “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.

Revelation 22:20 (NLT)

20 He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!”
Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
As long as the Church uplifts Christ I do not think the end is near. The end of the world is a conditional event not a predetermined date. If God who foresees everything knows the conditions will bring about a certain change to warrant the sending of His Son do you not think He will do something to help us, to avert such conditions? We forget that God needs faith to trigger His incredible mercies into this world and God has plenty of interventions which had helped the Church to regain its faith and I am certain God will intervene at times to secure this faith in reversing the conditions which might warrant the Second Coming.

What it means is that you need to be aware of the following passage…
2nd Peter 3:

***[1] This is now the second letter that I have written to you, beloved, and in both of them I have aroused your sincere mind by way of reminder;
[2] that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles.
[3] First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions
[4] and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation.”
[5] They deliberately ignore this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago, and an earth formed out of water and by means of water,
[6] through which the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.
[7] But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist have been stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
[8] But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
[9] The Lord is not slow about his promise as some count slowness, but is forbearing toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
[10] But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.
[11] Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of persons ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness,
[12] waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be kindled and dissolved, and the elements will melt with fire!
[13] But according to his promise we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
[14] Therefore, beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.
[15] And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,
[16] speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures.
[17] You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware lest you be carried away with the error of lawless men and lose your own stability.
[18] But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. ***

Well… don’t jump to conclusions just yet:

first off, your interpretation depends on what it means for a generation to “pass” (παρέλθῃ). Does it mean “pass away”? Does it mean “be annihilated”? In Matthew 5:18, the same term is used to talk about the passing of the heavens and the earth (i.e., creation) – that is, the end of the world. But, I don’t know of any Scriptural citations in which Jesus uses παρέλθῃ to mean “human bodily death.” So, it’s a bit presumptuous to conclude that Jesus means “40 years or less.”

Moreover, it’s important to think about the grammar Jesus uses here: the words ἕως ἂν have a particular implication in Greek (which goes beyond the simple tense meaning of ‘future perfect’ that these words take on in the Latin). In the Greek, they are used in order to express a particular indeterminacy of the time in which the verb (in the aorist subjunctive – in this case, “pass away”) takes place.

Finally, one might ask whether Jesus means “this generation of humans” or “this race of humans” (that is, all of humanity.)

In sum, then, I think it’s reasonable to conclude that it’s not necessary to think that Jesus meant “all this will happen and the world will end within forty years.”
You obviously didn’t read my entire post, I’d like to add that as with most everything I say, it didn’t come from me. This is the teaching of some of the Church’s (in my opinion) smartest apologists and theologians currently living today.

I am in no way smart enough to come up with even half the stuff I say, lol, when you read my posts just think, he is regurgitating something that someone who is smart said.

I believe there is much we know Nothing about ,
Our idea of soon may not be that of others, who knows ,

To God a day is like 1000 years and 1000 years is like a day. 2 Peter 3:8
That is true, but have to consider the audience, humans have no understanding of Gods version of time, so it would not make any sense to reference it when your audience is human, Plus, God is also fully aware of ‘our version of time’ and what soon means to us.

Also, regular death and the second coming are two entirely different things, many people die every die all around the world, but the second coming will be a very significant event even for those who have been dead for 1000s of years.

To your point,

Yes, death and the second coming are different.

When we die in the flesh, our soul that doesn’t die, is judged, and enters eternity. THAT is outside of time. Time is gone. Our bodies being mortal, live and die, but the soul is what makes us immortal. The soul lives forever once created by God. The question then is, WHERE will forever be for that soul at death of the body. Souls in eternity, even without bodies, experience and are fully aware of where they are and why they are there… Memory and intellect fully functional in the next life whether the soul is in heaven, purgatory, or hell.

At the resurrection of the dead, whenever that is, souls from the beginning to the end of time, are reunited with their resurrected bodies. catholic.com/tract/resurrection-of-the-body

If the soul was in heaven they are now body and soul in heaven. Same with those in hell. Purgatory ceases to exist since there is no more births or death so no more need of purification of souls

Last Ever Total Solar Eclipse Will Take Place in 600 Million Years as the Moon Recedes from Earth

The total solar eclipse on 21 August will be the first to pass across the whole of the U.S., from the Pacific to the Atlantic, in 99 years.
Total solar eclipses are a rarer occurrence than solar eclipses, which take place on average once every 18 months.
While the demise of Earth is predicted to happen around seven billion years from now,
when the expanding sun engulfs and destroys our planet, life forms will see the last total solar eclipse much sooner than then—around 600 million years from now. (yahoo.com/news/last-ever-total-solar-eclipse-132530476.html)

You obviously didn’t read my entire post
No, really… I did!

I should’ve added, in my post, that I don’t agree with the “linkage” part. Yes, Christ discussed both the “end of the temple era” and the “end of the world” in the same context, and yes, it can be difficult to discern which of the two he’s talking about… but no – he didn’t really “link” the two together, per se.

Now… if I’d have said that in my post, it might’ve been more clear that I was claiming that, since he really wasn’t linking the two, then I think we can make the case that the ‘early’ timeframes apply to the razing of the temple. However, the “this generation shall not pass” comment really does seem to be referencing the parousia, not the razing of the temple. So, I would assert that we need to evaluate the sentence (in the way I suggested in the post) in order to understand Jesus’ claim in a way that doesn’t lead us to conclude that he was mistaken. 🤷

LOL… just pretend it’s yours and smile – most of the time, no one will ever know the difference! 😃

All of these big letters, italics and bolding, doesn’t make it an easy read. Is that really necessary?

Personally I dont want the end to come. There are too many souls lost that need to find a way home. Noah stalled by taking a very long time. Lot stalled in his exit searching for souls after Abraham tried to bargain a stall. As it was in the days …

It is when your eyesight is like mine. Copy and paste it in a document whichever way you want or just look it up in your own Bible. Just so you get the point…🤷

Yet by design

The warning from God, is to always be prepared, and don’t get caught unprepared.

Mt 25:
25 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.a] 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ 7 Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise replied, ‘Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ 12 But he replied, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

I cannot imagine what a human world would like in 7 billion years, heck even in 1000 yrs, it will be completely different than anything we can imagine right now.
