Thanks for the replies. I tried to post yesterday about my experience but the computer, internet access, and I were having communication issues. They weren’t listening to me.
The architecture, the 70s in the round that was so very remininscent of a one of my childhood parishes. There was no crucifix but a stainglassed cross above on one wall that looked like confetti glued to the wall.
I went to the 8:30 am Mass (my interview was at 10 and the church was a only a few blocks away from my interview). The music was the usual mediocre stuff but I will take that well over what my home parish was playing at Easter Vigil. Father gave a good homily: Do you believe in the Resurrection and how do you live the Resurrection?
They held hands during the Our Father (its not a deal breaker to me and it’s not something that concerns me at the moment) but many stood after receiving Communion. That I do have a problem with. Father also added to “This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the World” I wasn’t expecting that from this priest but the pastor at my home parish does it pretty much every Sunday so I know its a problem that I don’t like. And yes, I know it’s wrong.
They sent home a cross every week to pray for vocations. That was something nice. Plus, there was a deacon who read the Gospel. I hadn’t seen a deacon in ages.
This parish won’t become my new parish but will do in a pinch to meet my Mass obligation.
If I get the job I interviewed for, I would have to go to Holy Rosary for the 7am Mass because I would be working Sundays starting at 9. And all day Saturday. Holy Rosary, at least when getting directions from Mapquest, was only a 20 minute drive to my new job so it wasn’t that bad. It would just mean a very, very early morning and long day for me.
