Within the Byzantine Catholic Church, I am sure each of us has seen the icon of Christ the Teacher.
  1. Christ the Teacher icon with book open.
    :confused:
  2. Christ the Teacher icon with book closed.
    :confused:
    Which is correct, why, and what is the message with book open or closed? I would think that the book closed would be used at our last judgement, as our human lives are closed or ended. ?

I think the open book means the gospel, and the closed book means the book of life. But I could be wrong.
