Hi

These are all valid points, Catholics!, please note.

Thanks

May GodAllahYHWH help you to believe as JesusYeshuaIssa believed; and to act like Jesus acted!
paarsurrey, you have been given the answer and you ignore this. You’ve advertised to all now that you’re not here to discuss, but to spam. I gave you an answer and I am not Catholic, so your non-response doesn’t even address non-Catholics reading this.

So you have no right to object on Islam, when Allah orders us to fight non-believers, these fights were because truth needs power, without power, truth will vanish, and people couldn’t worship Allah the right way.
This is your way of looking at things, not the Christian way. Christ is not about the biggest church wins.
By the way, does your God change his mind? Or he is forgiving his sin after what he made in the OT so he came to preach love? Or was this an abrogation? And did Jesus really told you that you don’t need the law?
There’s a great many questions here. God does not change his mind. If you are more lenient to your child than to when he grows up, is that changing your mind, or simply still loving him, but treating him with respect as he acquires adulthood?
Mat 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitudes and to his disciples, Mat 23:2 saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses seat: Mat 23:3 all things therefore whatsoever they bid you, these do and observe: but do not ye after their works; for they say, and do not.

I think for what Jesus said about love ( if he really said so), that he meant to love enemies in personal affairs not enemies in faith, as I am sure that he won’t tell his people to love those who disbelieve in God and fight his people, as this is a betrayal, of course we hope for God’s enemies that God leads them to His way, but that doesn’t mean that we love them, as this is a betrayal against God. The same about turning the other cheek, it is something between people, not that they are attacked by God’s enemies and remain silent. Besides, Jesus (Peace be upon him) wasn’t a political leader as Moses and Muhammad (Peace be upon them), by he was under Pilate’s rule.
Then you miss the lesson of Jesus from the cross. He preached forgiveness, even then.

For you Muhammad ran away from his persecutors. You even date your calendar from this act of cowardice. It is why Islam is so foreign to Christianity. You love ‘truth’ as understood in Islam. We love, full stop. An act of love would not permit us to lie for our faith. For you, promoting your faith at all costs is a goal in itself. Muhammad allowed you to do anything to forward Islam.

And in Islam you have ease of actions. There’s no restraint. You desire women, you can, if possible have four, and no limit to concubines. And your desires are imposed upon women who must modify their dress to your desires. A person insults you, give in to your anger and strike back. Your god is devoid of love. He demands obedience. And so obedience to him is your goal, and even then he may not love you.
As for polygamy, nowhere in the Bible does it orders men to marry one woman, in the OT it says:
Deu 21:15 If a man have two wives, the one beloved, and the other hated…
Then you understand that although God did not order it, it was allowed
😉
And in the NT, also nowhere does it say that, but Paul clearly limits that with the bishop and the deacon:
1Ti 3:2 The bishop therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, orderly, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
1Ti 3:12 Let deacons be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
This means that people other than deacons and bishops can marry more than one woman, otherwise, if Jesus really meant monogamy, there would have been no need for Paul to say this.
The fault in your argument here is to assume that all I believe about what is right is contained in the Bible.

Sura #5 | Madina
54 O you who believe! Whoever from among you turns back from his religion (Islam), Allah will bring a people whom He will love and they will love Him; humble towards the believers, stern towards the disbelievers, fighting in the Way of Allah, and never afraid of the blame of the blamers. That is the Grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He wills. And Allah is AllSufficient for His creatures needs, AllKnower.

Luke 15: 4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

What point are you trying to make?
Accidental post. I thought I was going somewhere, re-thought it and intended to delete then got called away. I’ll change my name to nimblefingersnot. The title of the thread suggests a comparrison between the two is being made. Their words obviously say much about who they are.

The comparrison I was thinking of between those two verses could be made, but it was more than I wanted to write, or anyone wanted to read for the point I as thinking to make.

Suffice it to say their understanding of God is worlds apart from each other, and I think those verses demonstate that among the many others when each speak about a similar topic; such as love, equalilty, human dignity, and duty to God.

It is clear to me that the Quran god allah is not I Am. allah is not Christ. allah is not the Holy Spirit. It is not clear to everybody, especially Muslims.

I’ve already dealt with this in my answer above.

There’s many things in the Bible that happen. Some, such as Lot having intercourse with his daughters is simply an account of what happened. Not what is ‘desireable’. Some such as David’s many sexual affairs did not lead to David losing his kinship. God is one who realises that we are flawed individuals and if he struck us down for every sin, we’d be dead in childhood.

Likewise God ‘sanctioned’ things for a certain period, insofar as we were, spiritually, ‘children’ then.
God didn’t sanction that for Lot, but he sanctioned fighting the disbelievers (I am talking from a Christian perspective), and He didn’t balme David for having many wives, he only blamed him for Batheshba’s, even when the Bible tells that David did that, God told him blaming that if you wanted more women, I would have given you, and what is the relation between God strucking for sins and fighting the disbelievers? I don’t see any consistent answer, and the writer of the Hebrews acknowledges all these battles, and didn’t say that God did so because they were still young.
God has not changed his mind. He’s always loved us.

Would you punish a child the same as an adult? Actually, under Islam, you probably would, and then blame everyone else for making you do it. Islam’s about abrogation of responsibility. Christianity is about accpeting responsibility.
First of all, Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was clear that a child is not accounted for what he does till he reaches puberty, and Muhammad (Peace be upon him) ordered us not to kill children unless for necessity or by mistake, so Islam doesn’t say that, it is the Bible which is filled with orders of your God to kill children even the suckling.
This is your way of looking at things, not the Christian way. Christ is not about the biggest church wins.
Well, reality is against what you say, unless you have a power to protect you, you will be always persecuted, and you can’t practise your rituals, it could even happen that you’ll be massacred, for example think if Christian countries didn’t have armies to protect themselves against communists or nazis, and this will happen all over ages, every new sect or disbelieveing army gets over Christians, everyday massacres happen, one day you might not find a man worshipping God, or even if you found, you’ll find them a weak community that can’t even tell his identity, and people could not be preached, and many people will die without knowing the truth, does your God accept this? If he does, then this is yours.

Wrong, we are not ordered to lie for our faith, lie is in case of war tactics only as I explained before, or that if one is going to be killed for his faith, as many people are weak and can’t bear this, and it is even better that they don’t do so and be patient, as for Muhammad (Peace be upon him), well as I explained before these were stages, Israelites at the Pharoah can’t act as Israelites with Joshua, and at the Babylonian captivity is not like at David’s age, it is only according to circumstances.
What you don’t understand is that Islam is a realistic religion, we are not in a beautiful dream, God gives us laws that can be applied, this is not the case with Christianity which tells for example that you don’t defend yourself or that you love those who insult God or that you don’t divorce, how come? This is against reality and nature of man which God created him on.
Again, you are still going on double standards, polygamy and taking concubines is present in your Bible, and Jesus didn’t object on them. As for a person insulting me, I have the right to strike back the same as he did, but it is better for me to forgive him, because Islam again is a realistic religion, we are not in Eutobia. My God of course loves, but loves those who deserve love, and many Quran verses tell so, and we are ordered to love him, aren’t you supposed to obey your god? It seems from what you say that if you loved God and didn’t obey him, there is no problem. And if your God loves people, why will he put them in hell eternally?
The fault in your argument here is to assume that all I believe about what is right is contained in the Bible.
Oh you mean tradition? So what about what Paul said? It seems that those who said so were after Paul, which means that you have no problem for people to give you new laws. What a religion!

God didn’t sanction that for Lot, but he sanctioned fighting the disbelievers (I am talking from a Christian perspective),
I noted this. Did you have a point?
and He didn’t balme David for having many wives,
So did God ‘sanction’ it? Or are you going to say David did this against God’s will?
and what is the relation between God strucking for sins and fighting the disbelievers? I don’t see any consistent answer, and the writer of the Hebrews acknowledges all these battles, and didn’t say that God did so because they were still young.
I agree he didn’t say this was the reason, but it’s the Christian understanding.
1 Corinthians 3:2
I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.
First of all, Muhammad was clear that a child is not accounted for what he does till he reaches puberty,
Didn’t stop him ‘marrying’ Aisha.
and Muhammad ordered us not to kill children **unless for necessity **or by mistake, so Islam doesn’t say that, it is the Bible which is filled with orders of your God to kill children even the suckling.

Christianity spread under persecution.

Contradicting yourself again. You say you’re not allowed to lie, then give reasons for justifying doing that!

What you don’t understand is that Islam is a realistic religion,
No. It’s a religion for *men * who can’t control themselves.
we are not in a beautiful dream, God gives us laws that can be applied,
Where’s the challenge in doing that? Where’s the way of bettering yourself if you’re simply given ‘laws’ that allow you to do what you want anyway?
this is not the case with Christianity which tells for example that you don’t defend yourself or that you love those who insult God or that you don’t divorce, how come? This is against reality and nature of man which God created him on.
Depends on whether you think it’s us being designed to be sinful, or not.
Again, you are still going on double standards, polygamy and taking concubines is present in your Bible,
I agree that it is. We don’t practice it, which is the point that supports we don’t consider the ‘practices’ of the OT to apply to us today
and Jesus didn’t object on them.
How do you know? Sola scriptura argument doesn’t wash with Orthodox
As for a person insulting me, I have the right to strike back the same as he did, but it is better for me to forgive him, because Islam again is a realistic religion, we are not in Eutobia.
Again, no discipline. Give into your lusts - we call that ‘Satan’.
My God of course loves, but loves those who deserve love,
No. For you ‘deserves’ is circular; all who are loved by Al-lah deserved it. Some do good but aren’t loved by him.
and many Quran verses tell so, and we are ordered to love him, aren’t you supposed to obey your god?
We obey because the nature of obeying a loving God is to participate in love. You obey your god as you would the laws of the land - in case you get punished.
It seems from what you say that if you loved God and didn’t obey him, there is no problem. And if your God loves people, why will he put them in hell eternally?
People put themselves in hell. We have a saying that the gates of hell are locked from the inside.
Oh you mean tradition? So what about what Paul said? It seems that those who said so were after Paul, which means that you have no problem for people to give you new laws.
There’s a point there somewhere, I take it?
What a religion!
Great isn’t it! 😉

I noted this. Did you have a point?
We are speaking about the God of OT sanctioning fighting the disbelievers and killing them, what is the relation between what you are saying about Lot and not punishing us once for our sins, and that he ordered that the Gentiles are killed even for children and even suckling? And why didn’t your god send prophets to the gentiles? Why did he make it exclusive for the jews (God’s chosen people?
So did God ‘sanction’ it? Or are you going to say David did this against God’s will?
2Sa 12:8 and I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; **and if that had been too little, I would have added unto thee such and such things. **
I agree he didn’t say this was the reason, but it’s the Christian understanding.
1 Corinthians 3:2
I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.
1Co 3:3 for ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you jealousy and strife, are ye not carnal, and do ye not walk after the manner of men?

So according to your exegesis, it seems from the Christian concept that when you find a man carnal, your God gives him what he wants, wives, concubines, fighting and killing the disbelievers, even their children, in brief encouraging him on his lust and giving him what he wants till he is grown up to distinguish between true and false. 😃 What an honest god you are really worshipping!
Emphasis added
Again Islam is a realistic religion, it is not that hypocrite as your god who ordered to kill children with no reason, then he comes and tells us: love your enemies.
Christianity spread under persecution.
And Islam also spread under persecution in Mecca in the beginning, but what protected Christianity to continue on is the Roman and Byzantine empires and then Europe and US, I mean that there are limits for persecution, if you accept that God’s religion keeps humble and humilite, I don’t accept this, this makes me feel that Christians don’t have dignity. btw, do you mean that Christian countries shouldn’t have armies to defend themselves?
Contradicting yourself again. You say you’re not allowed to lie, then give reasons for justifying doing that!
You are the one who don’t want to understand, an exclusion is not a contradiction, otherwise, we will say that Jesus is contradicting himself:
Mat 5:32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality
So Jesus here is contractin himself, he says that divorce is forbidden, then he says it is not and justifying it by sexual immorality.
No. It’s a religion for men who can’t control themselves. Again, no discipline. Give into your lusts - we call that ‘Satan’.
Where’s the challenge in doing that? Where’s the way of bettering yourself if you’re simply given ‘laws’ that allow you to do what you want anyway?
First of all, Islam doesn’t tell us to give your lusts, but in everything there are 2 extremes and a moderate, Islam is moderate, it neither tells us to give our lusts neither tell us to suppress it. Is this really a Satan, then go to your OT god as it seems that it is also from the Satan.

Depends on whether you think it’s us being designed to be sinful, or not.
I am not talking about sinning, I am talking about simple rights, if someone harms you, you have a right against him, and you can either take it or forgive him, that’s mere justice, and again Islam tells us that it’s better to forgive, but at the same time, it doesn’t deprive us from our right, as for divorce, it could happen that 2 couples can’t live with each other, why forcing them on that? This will make their life hell, if you can bear it, others can’t, and this may lead any of them to commit adultery or even leave Christianity to be divorced. And here we go.
No. For you ‘deserves’ is circular; all who are loved by Al-lah deserved it. Some do good but aren’t loved by him.
And who told you that loving God is only by doing good? Good acts are not accepted by God unless man really does that for God, and still keeps in mind that not the work which saves him, but God’s mercy. God will love him.
We obey because the nature of obeying a loving God is to participate in love. You obey your god as you would the laws of the land - in case you get punished.
We obey God because of 3 things: we love him, we want his reward, we fear his punishment NOT the third one only, there must be a balance.
People put themselves in hell. We have a saying that the gates of hell are locked from the inside.
So you are obeying your god because you don’t want to go hell.
There’s a point there somewhere, I take it?
Take it.

Hi

I have joined in, but now you are not here. I miss you my dear brother/friend in humanity. The reason given by you is also , as I understand, not correct.

I just followed what you have mentioned in a post, but that made you angry.

The dialogue must continue, I think you would at least agree on this.

I salute you.

I am not here to win; I am here to love and be loved.

Thanks
Sorry, paarsurrey; But sometimes the dialogue must not continue. Sometimes it can be wasteful to just repeat ourselves. Sometimes, when we have nothing to say, it’s better to just say nothing.

I haven’t forgotten about you; I’ll just see you around in different threads.

As you would please observe from the following quote, the most of the above is from NTBible (and there are several versions of the NTBible, may be some/one have the words “Because of his righteousness” in stead of the words “because of his reverent submission”, you never know.)

Hebrews 5:7 (New International Version)
7During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the **one who could save him from death **, and **he was heard because of his reverent submission **.".

So, please don’t accuse me entirely when it is from NTBible, and of course these are not words from Jesus’ mouth.

Thanks
You cut off the end of the quote, thereby losing the context and hence the full meaning.

Verse 8 reads:
Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered (crucifixion).
The Muslim idea that Jesus somehow avoided crucifixion is not supported by the bible.

Paul

I am not talking about sinning, I am talking about simple rights, if someone harms you, you have a right against him, and you can either take it or forgive him, that’s mere justice, and again Islam tells us that it’s better to forgive, but at the same time, it doesn’t deprive us from our right, as for divorce, it could happen that 2 couples can’t live with each other, why forcing them on that? This will make their life hell, if you can bear it, others can’t, and this may lead any of them to commit adultery or even leave Christianity to be divorced. And here we go.
But for you ‘harm’ can be him preaching his faith. You’ve laws to prevent a Christian woman who marries a Moslem man from openly practicing her faith. You’ve got a whole history of Islamic nations that have biased laws against Christians - such as not being able to testify in a court against a Moslem, not being able to build new churches etc.

For you ‘harm’ is so widely defined that you can pre-launch an attack on Christians just on the suppose-so that they’re one day going to be harmful to you.
And who told you that loving God is only by doing good?
God did. We love him in return. One of the ways we love him is by doing good.
Good acts are not accepted by God unless man really does that for God, and still keeps in mind that not the work which saves him, but God’s mercy. God will love him.
There’s another difference between us; your god won’t necessarily love you.
We obey God because of 3 things: we love him, we want his reward, we fear his punishment NOT the third one only, there must be a balance.
You fear him because even loving him you’re still possibly going to be punished.
So you are obeying your god because you don’t want to go hell.
I’m obeying God through love of him, which means that I would not want to go to hell - which is to be apart from him.

Of course you changed the subject now but no problem, yes, we have biased laws against dhimmis, and this is not a harm, this is a reprovement of their sins, we of course can’t equate them with Muslims, and we can’t put them in superior postitions, but at the same time, we shouldn’t transgress them, i.e. we shouldn’t attack them or if something happened between a Muslim and a Christian, and the Christian had the right, we should give him his right, even if that Muslim was the Caliph himself, by the way, look at how the Israelites were ordered to treat the gentiles within them:
Deu 7:1 When Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and shall cast out many nations before thee, the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
Deu 7:2 and when Jehovah thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and thou shalt smite them; **then thou shalt utterly destroy them: thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them; **Deu 7:3 neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
Deu 7:4 For he will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and he will destroy thee quickly.
Deu 7:5 But thus shall ye deal with them: ye shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and hew down their Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire.
Deu 7:6 For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God: Jehovah thy God hath chosen thee to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
There’s another difference between us; your god won’t necessarily love you.
If I really believed in God and followed Muhammad (Peace be upon him), and made good deeds with the intention to please God, God promised to love me.
You fear him because even loving him you’re still possibly going to be punished.
In this case my love wouldn’t have been real, it will be only words.
I’m obeying God through love of him, which means that I would not want to go to hell - which is to be apart from him.
The same result: you don’t want to go to hell, so you obey God.

Of course you changed the subject now but no problem, yes, we have biased laws against dhimmis,
It’s not a change of subject - it’s a ‘projection’ of Islamic understanding of ‘defence’. You are encouarged by your god to appease all your base elements.

You can give in to anger and fear; retaliate against those who aren’t Moslem, even before they think about you.

Lusts - give in -your wives are cursed if they don’t obey your desires.
and this is not a harm, this is a reprovement of their sins,
I thought you weren’t talking about sin. But hey, yes they’re Christian, they must by virtue of that be sinful!
we of course can’t equate them with Muslims, and we can’t put them in superior postitions, but at the same time, we shouldn’t transgress them, i.e. we shouldn’t attack them or if something happened between a Muslim and a Christian, and the Christian had the right, we should give him his right, even if that Muslim was the Caliph himself,
Again you twist things; here you dress up bias as ‘rights’.
by the way, look at how the Israelites were ordered to treat the gentiles within them:
It’s not relevant. Every example of the OT you push forward is done so in light of you ignoring the fact we’re Chrisitan. We’re done with the laws of being spiritually children. We’re grown up now.
If I really believed in God and followed Muhammad and made good deeds with the intention to please God, God promised to love me.
You don’t know that you’ll get to heaven. The only assured way of doing this is to become a martyr, and that can involve killing people.
So your god rewards murder, and lies. He encourages base emotions such as hate, fear and revenge. You call this ‘natural’ or ‘realistic’.
In this case my love wouldn’t have been real, it will be only words.

The same result: you don’t want to go to hell, so you obey God.
There are subtle differences you’re missing.

If I obey a parent because I love him/her and you do so for fear of being smacked, we’re both obeying our parents, but for different reasons. Me obeying my parent out of love of course would result in me not being smacked, but I’m not doing it because of that.

I’m going by love.

You by fear.
