I currently live in Tn which has the lowest percentage of Catholics in the US - 3% . I just entered employment with a Christian based group who tutors at risk kids. We pray often and I just wonder, should I be doing more in this group? I feel so alone in this state, and this workplace, but I do make the sign of the cross before and after prayer. What should I be doing? Should I try to lead these kids toward the Catholic faith? How? Some of these kids come from such broken homes / horrible backgrounds. What should I be concentrating on with these kids? Should I encourage them to attend the Christian church that is associated with the organization I work for? Is that ok? I don’t know what to do!!!

My sister was having the same problem in Atlanta, GA. She found a great church, large congregation of Catholics. The church is packed at Mass and there were 98 children receiving confirmation in just one church! They thirst for the Catholic faith down there. There really are a lot of Catholics in the South, just need to find them.
I would just talk about God with these kids, maybe get them slowly to see how we practice the faith. Problem being, there parents may not like this if they are another religion (baptist, etc…)
Good luck! God will lead you.

I too have been in situations where being in the minority as a Catholic, even among other Christians, was extremely difficult.

Be a strong example of Christ’s love as a member of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church He founded.

We are not called to be in the majority, many of the people who lived in Jesus’ time rejected Him.

I have found it extremely helpful to read and listen to the conversion stories of many Christians, and non-Christians as well, like Dr. Scott Hahn, Tim Staples and Marcus Grodi of the Coming Home Network, just to name a few.

Many were strongly anti-catholic protestants, yet the witness of strong Catholics and Jesus’ Truth from Holy Scriptures, Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium of the Church, led them Home.

Your loving actions and positive example will lead many others to the fullness of Truth that can only be found in the Catholic Church.

May God Bless You!
