I was wondering If anoyone has read the
“Christian Community Bible”, Catholic Pastoral Edition

Does it have useful explanations?

I have the spanish version and this bible itself is like a theology class.
It has long and comprehensible explanations for every tricky verse.
There is a huge difference in reading the bible alone and reading it with complex and usefull explanations.

I have the Christian Community Bible.
Some people love it, I’m not that charmed by it.
It reads easily (point in it’s favor), but in some books the chapters and verses have been moved around, which is really awkward. Also some of the study notes (such as the notes to the Gospel of Luke) assert factual errors in the inspired text, which is a heretical position to take.

The notes to the Christian Community Bible aren’t as bad as the notes to the NAB, but their still not top notch.
Older Christian Community Bible editions featured leftist/neoMarxist liberation theogians as heroes/saints for the faith too, something I found objectionable, but that’s just my opinion.

mm I think the Christian Community Bible comments are different to every edition and language. they vary for the culture, language and the place where the reader is.

For example they have made several bibles with different explanations to the people in Asia and for the Native american indians. In order to adapt the word of God to their cultures.

I think the Older Christian Community Bible editions were influenciaded with leftist scolards because of the situation of europe in those time.

however the latin american version is a good one. its for me the best bible I have ever read so far, because of their good comments.
