So, as I try to move deeper into my relationship with Christ, I find myself increasingly uncomfortable with much of what has been my standard running music for years – basically, well-produced pop music, something with a driving beat that keeps me moving forward … Katy Perry, Pitbull, Shakira, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, etc. (This is just what I listen to for running; it doesn’t represent the full spectrum of my taste in music, so don’t judge!) However, now every innuendo hits me and makes me think, “Can this possibly be good for my spiritual health?” Not all of it is bad, but I feel like most of the songs on my playlist wouldn’t pass muster if examined with an eye toward spiritual well-being.

The question is, what can I replace it with that will offer a similar kind of sound but without the smut? I’ve tried a few Christian-rock playlists, but honest, I prefer pop to rock for running, and I’m not all that impressed with these guys singing in rough, angry voices about how great God is, even if I agree with their message.

Any suggestions?

Damaged Bug (side project of The Oh See’s) has a few instrumental tracks on their new album. No lyrics means nothing sinful. :thumbsuwp:

Britt Nicole. Especially her album “Gold” – lots of upbeat, clean pop songs on that album.

A particular favorite of mine is the song “Amazing Life”. If that doesn’t get you going …

You could always just get an instrumental of your favorite pop songs. 😉

Funny - I came across her just after my previous post and played her during my afternoon run. Yes - this is EXACTLY what I had in mind. Thanks!

Here’s a list of 14 upbeat songs from Catholic artists. I believe most, if not all of these artists are also available on YouTube if you want to scout their other music as well.

Thanks – I have a Google Play music subscription and was able to find 12 of the 14 songs, so I put them on a play list I’ll sample later on. For the two songs that weren’t there, I put other songs listed as the respective artist’s most popular, based, I would imagine, on their play counts in Google Play.
